Even now, in 2017 I still say this is the best RPG of the next gen. The game is well coded, I've never run into bugs, and runs beautifully wether you have an AMD or nVidia based system. The game is rich with content that will give you 50+ hours of gameplay especially when the DLCs are included. It possesses difficulty for moderate and hardcore players without making the game monotanious. Story is excellent and true to the source material and the bits with Ciri make me want a game focused around her. This game is worth every penny, and scrap of pocket lint you raised to purchase it. If I was going to be nit picky I would say the unimportant NPC faces are a bit repeatative yet it hardly breaks the immersion. If you like dark fantasy and rpgs. BUY THIS GAME!
This game has literally revolutionalized the gaming industry, effectively redefining the standard for what is considered a truly great game. I cannot even count the times Ive read the sentence "in a post-witcher 3 world" in professional articles and stories. Its a stunning revelation to think that a single game, this game, has actually had such a profound effect on the world. Every facet of Witcher 3 is absolutely superb, there is no single aspect of the game that is lacking in quality.
The plot is arguably the most engrossing and epic of any video game, and it will have you on the edge of your seat through the entire 100+ hour game. There are so many human moments, so much life and realism embedded in the binary and artificial NPC characters in the game. Every struggle, every conflict, every petty occurance is sublimely believable and true to life. From main quests to obscure side quests, the themes in W3 are wide and varied. Death, grief, war, sexual exploitation, child abuse, capitalism, political agendas are just some of the complex themes that embody the quests in W3. They are all very relatable and intriguing.
The gameplay is flawlessly polished, and feels great. Every sword swing, dodge roll, every animation is beautifully animated and accompanied by hollywood level sound effects. The result is a visceral and brutal feeling combat system that is very satisfying. W3 always finds new ways to make you feel like a complete bad***. There are many ways to approach combat, many abilities and skills to use, and a plethora of weapons to boot. The inventory system is easy to navigate and effective, although not everyone agrees and some argue that its one of W3's less polished aspects.
This is truly the best game Ive ever played and there are millions of others who feel the same. If your reading this and somehow have not yet played this game, you MUST buy this. I pity the man who misses on the opportunity to relish in the glory of CD project Reds Witcher 3.
If Gothic Gold is a novel, then Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition is Lord of the Rings! This is not a game called Witcher, it's a simulation OF a Witcher! It's not one game, it's a new episode every time you sit down to play! I NEVER got tired of it! Each new village or city, every strange cave (on land and under water), a plethora of monsters, and if you take the time to watch the video, you'll see there's plenty of low-lifes to be taken care of...permanently! This game is like a painting, where you finish, then wonder if you should add one more stroke of the brush, only to stop mid air as your hand moves toward the painting, because you're not quite sure where to place it. A Masterpiece! I'd like to see what CDProjekt could create with a smaller canvas but the same amount of detail.
Oh, I suppose some salivate at the adult content, but I'm here to tell you that the entire game is a blast, and you can make it through without a single sexual encounter. I didn't have time for that. I was too busy moving on to the next story, the next monster slaying, the next "capital punishment" at the hand of the Witcher. Plus it's hilarious to see the reaction when a pass is made and you brush it aside. Stay true to Yenn, and keep it behind closed doors.
I was actually sad when I completed the game, including both expansion packs, yet felt that the content ending as it did was just right. Don't miss this game! It's a defining point in gaming history.
