Great and worthy
might be old but the story is still pretty good. Wish they had kept the "lady's man" attitude in the other games

Flawed and Anachronistic
It took me about eight years of chipping away at this game to finish it because I found the gameplay to be almost painful to endure. The game has a lot of busywork quests, padding in the form of very frequent long walks between quest areas, and a rhythm based combat system that while certainly unique was not fun or engaging to me. Your mileage may vary. The narrative is pretty compelling and does force the player into a few significant moral decisions. I do think it is worth playing for the narrative, but I would suggest playing on the lowest difficulty to minimize frustration. While I was not actively playing games back in 2007, I think this game is a bit ugly graphically even for that year. Especially character models. Some environments look pretty though. Granted, I may not have a full appreciation for how open environmental levels in RPGs were at the time as I'm mostly comparing to games like Halo 3 and Half-Life 2 as a comparison which admittedly might not be fair. The game does also have some stability issues as I had it crash on me many times over the course of my full playthrough across multiple PC builds. If you're a big Witcher fan you'll probably enjoy playing for the narrative, but I honestly can't recommend it unless you really want to experience the beginning of The Witcher in video game form.

Great so-far!
I'm only on Chapter 2 after 18 hours, due to trying to see and do everything the game has to offer. Thoroughly enjoyable, very "adult". Just the attack aspect of the combat is bad really. Sometimes playing like a turn-based with attack queing after the enemy gets theirs in. Nonetheless, the story is enticing, graphics are fine and skill tree is a solid 6.5/10. Very good start to the franchise and I look forward to finishing this and eventually playing Witcher 2. TL/DR; well paced, outdated combat and some graphics, but otherwise very good. I'd give a strong 7.5/10 so far. Cheers!
