Bad news: your uncle died, and left you nothing in his will.
Good news: the will mentions a mysterious treasure.
Bad news: only two people can recover the treasure, and you're not one of them.
Good news: these two people don't want to recover it.
Bad news: they hate each other and won't collaborate.
It seems like you have to move on and forget about the inheritance. Unless you're Jack Flabbington, and resort to a psychic to contact your uncle's spirit. It will be easy, right? It's not like you'll end up bound to a random ghost until you find the treasure yourself, right?

The Will of Arthur Flabbington is a comedy point-and-click adventure game where you're desperately trying to find your uncle's lost treasure with the help of a reluctant sidekick. Will you be able to set aside your differences and collaborate towards your common goal?

Witty, charming, and challenging

Gugames is great at making quirky point and click adventures and in this one, it's turned up to 11. The Will of Arthur Flabbington is a full length game based on an earlier jam game by the same developer. From the jam game, and later having had the privilege of beta testing, I can wholeheartedly recommend this game. From the bizarre premise, that pairs up Jack and Artie, to the twists at the end, and with all the weird and wonderful situations in between, there is a lot of humour and a lot to see. Personally, I'm a big fan of the pixel art aesthetic and especially all the nice and smooth animations in the game. Despite the low resolution by modern standards, the backgrounds are well-drawn with plenty of details and cute touches. Having played the game before voice acting was added, it has been such a treat to replay it and experience the added life brought to these characters by having them fully voiced! Beware, this is far from an easy game, with some very long chains of puzzles to figure out! You'd better pay close attention to everything, as you'll never know what you'll need later! Fortunately, the puzzles *are* always fair, and careful examination as well as taking your time to talk to all the characters, *will* lead to the solution. If you're stuck on something, try doing something else even in an entirely different location. There's a pretty good chance that doing things elsewhere will help you in your current quest line. I'm hardly the world's greatest adventure game player, but I've managed to solve the game without a walkthrough and it was an immensely satisfying experience. Overall, two thumbs up from me for this great point and click adventure!

The best point&click of the last 5 years

This game has the exact amount of everything that makes a great point&click game: - Puzzles are challenging, but no moon logic. There are plenty of things to do, so if you get stuck on something you can always work on another puzzle and come back later. - There's humor, but the game is not continously throwing jokes at you. The humor is subtle and enjoyable. - There are some references to other games, but again, no three headed monkeys on each screen. - Voice acting is superb. Great job on that. - The attention to detail is incredible. A few puzzles into the game, you get a new "skill" that you can use on other characters. Each one of them is incredible well designed and feels different to each other. I had a great time with this game. Very recommended!

A funny and challenging game experience

The Will of Arthur Flabbington is a game that will entertain you from the beginning to the end. The first chapter will introduce you to the game, with a limited number of puzzles in a small set, helping to gain confidence with the interface and the game mechanics. Then the game opens wide, puzzles becomes many with a lot of things to do. Difficulty is quite challenging: like in the best tradition of the genre, I found myself closing the session with no clue on how to go on, and restarting the game some time after with the right insight to the solution. Puzzles are fair and there is no pixel hunting or other kind of frustrating experiences. An attention to details offered by lines of dialogues and readable objects is enough to center the solution, with a little help of lateral thinking. The story is well written as well as the dialogues, with a lot of funny lines that made me laugh several times. Graphics are interesting. They switch from the simple reminescence of the limited features and palette of the first games of the genre, to a new exploration of the possibilities of pixel drawings, with a capable use of perspective, dithering-like shades, all the millions of colors now at our disposal, in a visually satisfing experience overall. Animations too are nice and fitting. Music highlighs well the tone of the sceneries, being an appropriate accompaniment to the game experience, with the main theme emerging prominently. Voice over is amazing and really brings life to the characters. References and quotes to the best games of the genre are there too, expecially from the Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts, but they never really weight down the experience, being just a sparkle for the experienced eye, often raising a smile. It's a game that definitively hails Gugames as a very fine executor of this genre, being capable of measure out all the ingredients needed to achieve a rewarding result.

A real blast

A really beautiful made game in the OLD pixel-style graphics, great voice-acting and fun puzzles. A style of game, that I've been missing for years I really had a blast playing this game. The puzzles are ALL logical and make sense.. They can be tough, but there is no Moon-Logic to it, you just have be VERY observant, listen to the dialogue and sometimes think out of the box. So if you like and love the OLD-Style point'n'click games, this is the game for you

1st adventure game completion in years!!

As an adventure game developer myself, I very rarely get the chance to play other people's games. I tend to stick to shorter fixes like demos and game jam submissions (which is where I first played The Will of Arthur Flabbington). I have played many other modern full-length adventure games over the past few years, but have completed NONE of them. So, why is this one different? The humour. OK, there are a few toilet gags in here which may not be to everyone's taste... but they made me and my nine year old son laugh out loud throughout the game. Take into account that English isn't even the developer's first language, and the wordplay, sarcasm and more subtle dialogue-based jokes are even more impressive. The puzzles. They are simply brilliant. The developer is able to weave intricate, varied and logical puzzles from a seemingly simple collection of items, locations and characters, and it's a joy to play. For me, the perfect balance of difficulty, logic and dopamine reward. *Chef's kiss* If I got stuck, I went away from my screen and the puzzles continued to go around in my head, in that way it reminded me of the feeling I used to get when playing adventure games as a teenager in the 1990s. No internet, no walkthroughs, just obsessing about the solution until I got a lightbulb moment and would rush back to my computer to try it out. This is not the easiest adventure game, but is full of hugely satisfying and logical pay-offs as you follow the characters. LOVED IT!
