Description

As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do about it?

Features:

  • Overcome more than 120 immersive puzzles in a stunning world.
  • Divert drones, manipulate laser beams and even replicate time to prove your worth - or to find a way out.
  • Explore a story about humanity, technology and civilization. Uncover clues, devise theories, and make up your own mind.
  • Choose your own path through the game's non-linear world, solving puzzles your way.
  • But remember: choices have consequences and somebody's always watching you.

Prototype DLC includes:
  • Prototype Levels - Includes more than 100 puzzles from early prototype development stage and 1 exclusive level from early beta version, not present in the final game.
  • Elohim Voice - US version - Elohim voice narrated by Serious Sam narrator Bill Jurney.
  • Elohim Voice - Writer's prototype - Elohim voice narrated by The Talos Principle's writer Jonas Kyratzes.

The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna follows the narrative of Uriel, Elohim's messenger, as he explores a strange, hidden part of the simulation on a mission of mercy and redemption in an attempt to free the souls of the damned at all costs.
This substantial expansion consists of four episodes that take experienced players through some of the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet. The Talos Principle writers Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes have returned to pen the expansion and show players an entirely different side of Elohim's world through a journey to Gehenna filled with new characters and a new society with its own history and philosophy.

The new Serious DLC replaces the godlike voice of Elohim with completely NEW, rewritten and humorous Serious Sam script.
Serious Sam voice has been recorded by longtime Serious Sam voice actor John J. Dick.
It also includes a new Serious Sam player model for use in The Talos Principle.

The Talos Principle - Bonus Content includes:

Documentary Video* - Making-Of The Talos Principle video featuring behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive developer interviews with Croteam members. This documentary takes a look at how the game was made.

Digital Terminal Booklet** - The digital terminal booklet contains over 100 pages of text found in game terminals.

Box Art** - Includes DVD label and DVD sleeve (front and back), so you can create your own retail The Talos Principle DVD box.

Wallpapers - Eight exclusive hi-res (1920x1080) images as wallpapers.

Posters, Stickers and Postcards - Three posters used at E3 2014 show, one sticker art for printing Talos related stickers on sticker paper and two postcards (two front and one back) used at Gamescom 2014 show.

Banners - Two roll-up banners used at Pax Prime 2014 show.

* This item is only available in Croatian audio with English sub-titles
** English version only

The Talos Principle - Soundtrack is the official soundtrack which includes a collection of 25 amazing tracks from the game, plus 2 bonus tracks, composed and now also specially remixed by Serious Sam's composer Damjan Mravunac.

No manual saves! Autosaves Only!

Playerprofile.dat file is the only way Talos Principle saves your progress. So if you are not connected to the internet with GOG Galaxy, then you will not be able to get very far in this game, because I had to keep downloading my backup saves from Galaxy to pick up where I left off. There's a new trend in the indie market lately of doing away with manual saving and F5/F9 hotkeys. STOP IT! Nobody has made a truly bug free game, so who are you to think your game is so "perfect" that autosaving is sufficient. It's not! And this is a perfect example of why.

Great puzzle game

The Talos Principle is a great puzzle game, on the verge of being pretentious. It requires you to solve puzzles which get progressively harder. The game is difficult enough to make you waste a good 15 minutes every now and then, without becoming annoying. It doesn't have humor like portal or an insidious setting like Limbo or Little Nightmares. Good: - Good balance and difficulty - Supreme soundtrack - Graphics look amazing despite its age - Story sticks with you after you're done Bad: - Overstays its welcome a bit. With only a few mechanics I was waiting for the end halfway through - Most random texts are just that, random and rather uninteresting Conclusion Great game, at 90% off it feels like a steal.

A masterpiece. Imho same level as Myst

A game that just screams enjoy and relax! Runs well, looks good. One of the best soundtracks and has great complex levels. Buy it here if you want the freedom and also not a cut-back version on Switch where the gorgeous art is missing for performance. Deep TalosOS text messages and conversations with an AI. Impressive Monologs to hear and awesome eye-candy light effects. To me this game rivals Red Dead Redemption 2 in light effects especially when thunder starts.

Great Puzzle Game

Thank you GOG for bringing this great game in, I missed it since I left steam. I really enjoy the scenery of each level, the "discussions" and the way we can be stuck for quite some time going around the same place, thinking "no way a star is hidden here", and finally finding it ! The Easter eggs are also a nice bonus on which I spent some time, and since you brought the game I'm going for a 2nd round ! So yes : between the mechanics, the gameplay, the soundtrack, I cannot but recommend it !

Best, relaxing, frustrating game I own.

Don't let the title of my review put you off. I got hooked on this game when a friend showed it to me and then made the mistake of going to order pizza. By the time he was off the phone I was hooked and wouldn't stop playing it. He got to eat 2 pizzas though. The soundtrack to the game is chilled and relaxing, the graphics beautifully rendered and serene. I can sometimes just fire up the game and wander around the ruins listening to the music. Elohim is superbly voiced and has a timbre that really gets to you when he speaks, explaining the who, what, why through the game. I've not tried the Serious Sam DLC replacement yet, even though I nabbed the Gold edition whilst it was on sale here. I do and I don't want to, I just love the original voice so much I'm worried it might ruin it for me. The soundtrack has been transferred to my music centre it is so beautiful and chilled. As for the game, it is something you can dip in and out of without fear of losing what you are doing. This is where the frustrating and annoying part of my review title comes in. I adore the puzzles, you're not on a timer, you can sit and watch the screen, plot your solution out, retry it if you get it wrong, and don't have to solve everything if you don't wish to. Some of the puzzles can seem annoying, wondering what on earth the solution is, others the solution stares you in the face. Annoyingly, you can struggle with a puzzle only to play the game another time and see immediately how it is achieved. And frustrating is not the word once you solve a particularly tough puzzle only to realise how incredibly logical and simple the solution actually was. I never get tired of playing this, and have to admit I have bought it for every platform I own that supports it, from console to desktop. I honestly can't recommend this game enough. Try it, you won't be regret it, even if you think puzzle games are not your thing.
