Description

Born into a new world where biological humanity is extinct but human culture lives on in a city of robots, you find yourself swept up in a mind-bending adventure involving a mysterious megastructure hiding enormous powers.

The more you discover, the more you will be confronted with questions about the nature of the cosmos and the purpose of civilization. The broken promise of a better tomorrow, the fear of repeating humankind’s mistakes, faith in reason or renouncing humanity altogether - the choices you make and the sides you take will determine the course of events.

A New Generation of Puzzles

Solve a wide array of puzzles with varying difficulty levels, including clever metapuzzles and highly challenging Gold puzzles. Finish the game without solving every puzzle, or pursue the rewards of complete mastery. A variety of new abilities, such as gravity manipulation and mind transference, join the established mechanics of the original Talos Principle, creating a fresh but familiar experience.

A Philosophical Odyssey

Take the next step forward in the story of The Talos Principle in a thought-provoking, character-driven interactive story with multiple endings penned by returning writers Jonas Kyratzes (The Eternal Cylinder, Clash: Artifacts of Chaos) and Tom Jubert (The Swapper, Subnautica), joined by Verena Kyratzes (The Hand of Merlin, Serious Sam 4).

Brave New World

Explore more than a dozen all-new environments, from a city on the brink of a paradigm shift to the varied landscapes of a mysterious island that holds the keys to the future. Take a break from puzzle-solving to discover long-buried secrets and strands of forgotten history.

The Melodies of Creation

Immerse yourself in the rich, bittersweet world of The Talos Principle with a stunning soundtrack by master composer Damjan Mravunac (Serious Sam, The Talos Principle), with a guest appearance by Chris Christodoulou (Risk of Rain 1 and 2).

A truly excellent and gorgeous game

The main game has an excellent thought provoking story and dialogue and the puzzle difficulty ranges from easy to medium. The golden gate puzzles are a little bit more difficulty but overall I'd rate the difficulty as lower than TTP1 but still challenging and fun enough to keep you engaged throughout. TTP2 is broken up into 4 zones, each with 3 sub zones, and the megastructure. They have different themes, designs, and soundtrack. Some of the puzzle mechanics are the same as TTP1 and some are new. Overall there are something like ~150 puzzles of varying difficulty. Road to elysium is broken up into 3 parts with 3 different themes and levels of difficulty with 74 puzzles plus the Hexahedron. Orpheus Ascending - Heartfelt mini story, gorgeous graphics and theme, amazing soundtrack, fun puzzles (with a great twist on an existing mechanic), and some fun easter eggs to find. This was the shortest area of the three (at least for me) but well worth the time and effort. Isle of the Blessed - A fun chill beach area where you get to interact with some of the characters from the original game (including your previous self!), meet some new ones, solve fun puzzles, and learn more about the future / story at the end of TP2 all while taking in the absolutely gorgeous visuals and beautiful soundtrack. In addition to that, hearing and seeing the other robots playing around, joking, making up for lost time and past mistakes is quite relaxing and pretty fun. Into the Abyss - The hardest of the 3 but definitely do-able. There are some great puzzles in here, Tidal Lock (#12) for example, with a unique (and darker) theme. All in all if you enjoyed the first game you will likely enjoy this, and it’s a steal for the amount of content you get, a ton of easter eggs, exploration, amazing visuals, and an amazing soundtrack. Thank you to everyone at Croteam, Damjan, and everyone else involved with making these games. They're truly works of art and I can't wait for Talos Principle 3.

Great sequel with some flaws

In general, Talos Principle 2 is everything Talos Principle was, except bigger. Instead of three worlds based on ancient Greece, ancient Egypt and medieval Europe, we have four main biomes based on the climate. Some areas will have you walk through snowy mountains, others will have you walking through forests or sandy deserts. The visuals are breathtaking, it's a good showcase piece for Unreal Engine 5. The nature looks great, landscapes look realistic and the brutalist style architecture is very impressive. Even minor elements like grass have a lot of detail put into it and the view distances are great allowing you to see entire islands at a time. There's much more variety here than in Talos Principle 1. Each of the 12 subworlds introduces its own mechanic. From rotating and moving platforms to hole generators, there's a lot of new items and there's interesting interactions between those. The game doesn't come with some flaws however. The difficulty level is very uneven. The game starts off easy and stays relatively easy until about 3/4 of the game when the difficulty level soars. Also, because each subworld introduces a new gameplay mechanic, first few levels on each subworld is a tutorial, which doesn't help the difficulty. The gold puzzles which unlock after beating the game provide a proper challenge however. They vary from moderately difficulty to very difficult and will be challenging even for veteran Talos Principle players. Other flaw is the world size. The worlds are large, but mostly empty, and it takes a long time to travel between puzzles. This is especially noticeable during the last few subworlds, which consist of mountain ranges and long winding linear paths. Tetris bridges are a controversial feature, personally I liked the Tetris assembly from the original game more. Overall, it's a must have for any Talos Principle 1 fan and fans of the first person puzzler genre..

A huge leap

After playing and loving the first game I was expecting more of the same, and would have been happy with that. Instead, The Talos Principle 2 greatly expands on the original in every way. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm legitimately surprised :)

Excellent follow-up

Fantastic puzzles and compelling writing make this a great sequel to The Talos Principle, which was already one of the best puzzle games of recent years.

Works with Linux

We all know it's a great game but to get it working with Linux, you'll need to install both DXVK and VKD3D. The initial menus need (DXVK for Direct X 8-11) and VKD3D (for DirectX 12). Wine version 9.19, DXVK version 2.41, VKD3D 2.13.
