A catastrophic event has knocked you out during the first day on the job… you wake up equipped with a heavy-grade exoskeleton, in a destroyed section of the complex. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - everything wants you dead. Defy deadly enemies and huge bosses in tight, visceral melee combat. Target and slice specific limbs off your foes, with a next-gen loot system where you loot what you dismember. Equip, upgrade and craft new weapons and armors sliced from enemies, and make yourself stronger through a fresh take on leveling-up.
This game is gorgeous in 1440p, I'll say that. The controls feel fluid and its fun just to swing your weapon with that huge Whoosh. But as others have said, your mileage is going to very on this F'ing pointless hyper-difficulty all the Zoomers are into these days.
I consider intentionally raising the cortisol in other humans murder. High cortisol causes heart attacks. Frustrating games raise cortisol.
Thanks, devs. You absolute monsters.
- The graphics are beautiful at 4K@60FPS with a lot of options to tweak.
- It has Excellent level design, everything makes sense where it is with lots of shortcuts.
- While I won't criticise the SLG genre because that's how it is, there where some things I do conside a crime in this game and is what they did with "Stunt Locking" & "Group fighting". The game does not have any group fighting style, however you will find yourself in a tight corridor with 4 enemies all atacking at ONCE (Since they don't fight in group aswell) and you on the floor stunned locked because they will not stop attacking and you cannot jump over them because you need to run and they are so close they won't let you move. Your moves occasionally will hit more than one enemiy but you will have to fight one while 4 attack you at once. This was probably the WORST of the game had we had the option to break the combo chains or to at least attack more than one enemy the game would had not been so painful at times. With that said.. now let's go to R&D and attrack 6 enemies all who leap, doble dash and have long chain combos and do 90+ damage.
- The story was... just there since there is not relevant side quests or anything you learn everything through logs where everyone is very, VERY vague even tho some are scientists logging what could be important info. (There are actually some characters you met and they have some side quests but they are so irrelevant that is not worth mentioning). Even when you met "main characters" in the story, they are all master players of the pronoun game and refuse to answers any of your questions.
- The game just ends, there is not build up or anything it just ends and NG+.
- The voice acting is meh, everybody talks like a cheesy villain for... some reason.
I am sure someone will tell me to "git gud" but at some point the game was just not fun for me, however I see some people will enjoy it to reach a NG+++. so a 3 I guess...
By far my favorite souls-like title, I even like it more than Dark Souls 2 and, in some ways, Dark Souls 3. Combat feels pretty good, the high tech sci-fi environment makes for an interesting take on the genre, and although the game is broken up into individual (though large) levels/areas that are separated by load screens (more similar to Demon's Souls than Dark Souls 1) the levels themselves are very intricately designed, filled with several ways of traversal and shortcuts in a way that puts later Fromsoft efforts to shame.
On the other hand, bosses are pretty awful and the story isn't particularly great (and nor is the backstory/lore) though i find it good enough to justify the gameplay. As a big fan of Demon's and Dark Souls 1, this is the only "copycat" I've enjoyed enough to put more than half an hour into. But maybe wait for the sale times
I had no intention of liking this game, but, with a little help from youtube, I found this to be an absolute delight! I took it upon myself to collect every set of armor, and found this endevor to be entirely unnecessary to enjoy the game. I loved how the game hands you your ass over and over to eventually overcome and gratify! After awhile you just find a suit that suits you and you plow through your adversaries like a hot knife through butter... with a chunk of your ass handed to you for desert! I loved the environments and the way that paths double back into a wealth of shortcuts and hidden areas.
I am really appreciative of some of the equipment given by some of the DLCs, like the device that beeps at you when you near a goody!I must admit though The Good the Bad and the Augmented, although a cute and interesting in its own way, was an absolute distraction from the world provided in the main game. I however thought that A Walk In The Park was just the too good of a dystopian environment to append to the main game! I mean, smushing robot mascots! and they eventually transform and get rougher!
I love it I love it I love it!
Anyerwho, buy the game, beat the game, gloat that you beat the game! Have weird dreams...
you know the drill!
Out!

The game per-se got potential.
But the problem is once you got killed once all enemies respawns and you have to go trough the all level again.
This has two escalating problems:
1. You have to kill all the enemies AGAIN
2. You probably wants to reach the timed scrap pool you have lost as fast as possible or you will lose it
3. If you don't kill all enemies on the way they will gang on you making the whole even more a chore
The graphics, sounds and character progress are all very good (even if the UI is bloody confusing).
I can't, in all honesty, put higher than 2 stars as the game is too of a chore to play.
I understand people out there like this game design and find it challenging.
I found it boring.
