Not What I Expected

This game was released as an early access title on the Xbox One marketplace, and I played the trial. I loved it, but didn't make it far enough to truly critique the gameplay. This prompted me to purchase the game. As each new expansion was released, slowly but surely finishing the game, I fell in love. Gorgeous visuals, great story. Just a bit too much backtracking. The soundtrack also gives me goosebumps. Definitely a suspenseful walking simulator, like Firewatch.

Can't get Steam VR going, but will rebuy

Have had the Steam version for a few years, and love the game, and it always screamed "VR" to me. I have tried every step-by-step web post unsuccessfully to get it to work. Hellblade (1) VR on GOG works flawlessly for me, whereas other Steam VR games are more loaded with points of failure and glitches and just bogged down with unecessary layers overall, so I will rebuy this on GOG if it works OOB. It's dated visually, but still well done for atmosphere. Hopefully that commitment also says something about the game.

Solus Project

Warning**** possible unintentional spoilers*** I started with the game in early access and must say I thoroughly enjoyed the solo aspect of the exploration and discovery. The graphics are crisp, clean and believable. The soundtrack is fantastic and really adds to the atmosphere of the game. Speaking of atmosphere the player will be immersed in the planet and the puzzles presented throughout the gameplay. One thing I really appreciated was the fact the tasks weren't extremely hard, but challenging just the same. The player is expected to immerse themselves in the game and begin to think like both an explorer and a survivalist. Each phase of the game seamlessly melds with the previous phase. I enjoyed the fact I could go back and forth between discovered and undiscovered areas. I like to back track in case I have missed something and this game allows the player to do just that. Over all an enjoyable experience I would recommend it to anyone.

Great start, good half-way, so-so end

Astonishingly good first impression of being stranded on some space island, that you don't quite know what to expect from. Gotta say that the ending turned out to be not as satisfactory conclusive as I secretly hoped it would be (I don't know what it is with many recently released games not having balls - pun is not intended - to have a good epilogue that ties up all the loose ends, but that's how things are), but overall I enjoyed hopping about the rocks, scavenging for food occasionally and look up for something new to challenge myself against.

Too long

A sequel to "The Ball". This one is a survival game with an actual story, a path to follow and lots of hidden secrets. Difficulty can be changed between 0-400%. As such it can be a grueling challenge to survive or a cakewalk. There's a helmet of sorts around the edges of the screen, mostly just annoying. Saving isn't frequent, though you can sleep at any time as long as conditions are good to save. The way text on tablets you find slowly appears is annoying. I get what they were going for with a machine translating it, however this doesn't make it any better dealing with this when every second gets you closer to dying. Like they couldn't decide whether it truly was an exploration or a survival game. Is the story worth it? No, it's pretty simple and not that interesting. It obscures details early on to keep you interested; this would work if not for the fact the game is 12+ hours long. If every location was shorter/smaller the game would've been better off. Currently the game just feels exhaustingly long.
