Emphatically Yep
Depressing and hopeless story that makes you want to crawl into a deep hole and cry? Nope. Whimsical and ironical story that cleverly pokes fun at the above? Yep. Slow, plodding combat that would better be suited to a turn-based game? Nope. Snappy yet ultimately strategic combat that's reminiscent of Hades, but not quite as good as Hades, because nothing besides Hades is actually that good? Yep. Loot? Yep. Lots of loot? Yep. Lots of loot you'll never use? Yep. Lots of loot you'll never use that can be filtered out and turned into gold? Yep. Occasional loot that offers a whole new way of building your character? Yep. A simple, intuitive way of modifying loot to make it perfect? Nope. An initially daunting but ultimately logical way of modifying loot to make it perfect? Yep. "Professional game development" from a AAA company? Nope. Surprisingly professional game development from a very small studio? Yep. Mediocre and repetitive music? Nope. Great though repetitive music? Yep. 1995 good pixel-art standards? Nope. 2023 good pixel-art standards? Yep. A million viable builds, few of which are enjoyable to play? Nope. Dozens of viable builds, most of which are enjoyable to play? Yep. A fixed camera zoom that gives you a perfect view of your nicely equipped character and also makes it impossible to actually play the bloody game? Nope. A reasonably good camera distance (after changing it in options) that allows you to, you know, see the enemies you're attacking? Yep. An obsessively grindy end game, which leaves you feeling that with the hours you've put in, you could have cured cancer instead? Nope. Yep. A fully complete ARPG that kinda sucks? Nope. A not yet complete ARPG that's nailed the basics and has potential to be genuinely awesome? Yep. Major Details: 1- Active devs? Yep. 2- Balance issues with builds? Yep. 3- Hopes? That the answer to #1 will fix the answer to #2. Also world peace. 4- Dreams? Bugs in my breakfast cereal. 5- Bugs? Haven't encountered any. 6- Game sibling? First Torchlight. 7- Worth $15? For ARPG fans who aren't afraid of the A part, an emphatic Yep.
