An Great Horror Experience
I've seen the other reviews, some claiming it to be a walking simulator which isn't really true, some claiming it to be "alright", but honestly I got more scares out of this than I did the entirety of Resident Evil 8, and many modern horror games. It perfectly gets the crypticness and unimiginable horrors of Lovecraft, and provides an amazing setting and plenty of scares based on that setting. A perfect encompassment of many of HP Lovecraft's creatures and fears given form in a way that that just perfectly embodies them. Significantly better than any "Call of Cthulhu" entry I have ever played, especially the most recent. This game has branching paths where you can interact with loads of estranged mythos and alter the path of your player character, meaning it has good replay value, or at least what I interpret as such. The guidelines say each game must stand on its own merit. This game, however short, stands above the merit of its competitors, and I can't help but compare the experience I had with it to the experience I had with others in the same existing genre. That being said, this is also coming from the perspective of a fan of HP Lovecraft. As such, for me, there's a ton of enjoyable and fascinating things to see here, all great references to Lovecraft's work. I recommend this game. It is simple. It's made by one guy, who has managed to embody many of HP Lovecraft's works and his specific style of story telling into one game, something many people seem to overlook when crafting a "Lovecraftian" horror game.
