A famous writer has died. His daughter seeks the help of you, Ord Salomon, to find his secret last novel. During the search, questions will emerge. Did her father really kill himself? What is the secret novel all about? What is going on at the island of Fardo? Crack codes, decipher secrets & find a lost fortune in this exciting detective adventure for Windows PC.

The Samaritan Paradox is set in Sweden in the 80's. Ord Salomon has agreed to help Sara Bergwall find the book her father, Jonatan Bergwall, wrote before he died. During the course of this treasure hunt, he learns that Jonatan was investigating the weapons industry, and more specifically some covert affairs with foreign dictatorships.

But more questions arise. What is the book about, and why does Sara want Ord to find it for her? Did her Alzheimer's-stricken mother know the secret before she grew too demented to share it? And how did Jonatan actually die?
  • 2000+ voice lines, 60+ rooms to explore, 20+ characters to talk to, 1 lost fortune to find!
  • Retro style point & click adventure with hand-drawn art.
  • Includes the full original soundtrack by Lannie Neely III.

So much potential, so much squandered

The game starts out with some promise, but overtime, the puzzles and sequence of events become muddled and counter-intuitive. The story carried a number of subject matters that were worth exploring, but it all ends up as a patchwork of ideas that gradually were hastily cobbled together. As a result, the narrative collapsed under the uneven weight. If you're still interested in picking this up, it's strongly suggested to do so when it goes up on sale. Undoubtedly, there are a number of other point-and-clicks that easily outshine this one.

lunch friday ?

A brilliant AGS point and click adventure with a good story and nice pixel art graphics. The music suits the game well. Some puzzles are hard but sensible and there are other ones that require good observation skills, the balance however is very good here. The only thing I noticed is that a few combinations and interactions don't have dialogue / text but this is not a big flaw. Took me about 12-13 hours to finish and keeping in mind the price of the game is 9.99$, its length is acceptable. If you like old school avdentures like broken sword you're gonna love it.

Adventure game nostalgia

Having grown up in 90s with classic point and click adventure games, I was excited to find this indie adventure game here on gog. Feeling nostalgic of these games (and that era), it was really easy for me to feel immersed in the story. I loved the graphics, the characters, the settings (one is 1980s Sweden and the other is a medieval fantasy world), and the puzzles (just challenging enough for me.) Recommended for fans of classic adventure games :)

Ready to Rage Quit in Chapter 3

An adventure game should let you take your sweet time each move. Adventure games are a refuge from twitch fests. Yet this game forces you to run and hide with no chance to save in Chapter 3. I hate that. Otherwise, it has been okay till now. I'll give it a rest until I can get one of my kids to play thru the twitch part for me.

Odd Game but I liked it

The game is dated, yes. Some of the puzzles drove me to a walkthrough and at least one had a solution that I had never considered. The story within a story was an interesting addition. I got it on sale and I am glad I played it. The reviews I read were mixed but I gave it a go and would recommend if you like old fashioned P&C to give it a go if you catch it on sale. I think you will find the ending unusual.
