The Red Strings Club

Here we have a truly fantastic "adventure" game. But it's more than just an adventure game. It's a game about ideas, about philosophical concepts, society, and moral dilemmas. That may make it seem too intellectual. Thankfully it's fun and incredibly engaging. I won't say anything else except PLAY THIS GAME!

...was a great experience. You have to be sharp, deduct, ask the right questions, stir your customers up a bit. I enjoyed bartending and I liked the characters. Whoever came into the bar, felt natural and not shallow. The music is awesome, too! What I didn't enjoy at all was the moment when I felt the game forced a set agenda/social standard on me. In my case it killed the immersion completely at that point and just made me sigh and roll my eyes. Luckily, the game is entertaining and gripping enough to make you forget that one moment over the course of time, so that overall it is still a trip I wouldn't want to miss. Totally worth it!

If you like adventure games, I'd say you know already know what you like and what you're looking for -- so you will probably enjoy this. I picked this up particularly for the theme (neo-noir sci-fi) and I loved the style/art design. There are heavy-handed messages in here, so if that's not your thing, you might not like that.. but I liked it.. a lot. I understand some people felt it may be telling you how to think/feel, however I thought completely differently -- it seemed the game was consistently assessing what I believed and why, also how some of those assessments may be hypocritical. Asks more questions then tries to feed you answers (IMO). ANYWAY, highly recommend this game for those who like some philosophy in their games.

The Red Strings Club is extremely unique, with both its storyline and gameplay. Essentially, the game is just three (very, very good) minigames spaced together through a linear story with different branching paths offering slight changes. Your choices matter, despite everything leading to the same end. This game is brilliant. That's all I have to say.

A lovely story questioning how you think about a world where you could end anger and fear once and for all.
