long road, familiar landmarks
How much you like this DLC will depend on how much you liked the base game. If finding the same loot, fighting the same enemies and reading endless reams of inter-office emails on abandoned computers got to you -- steer clear. But if you don't mind some repetition, Perils of Gorgon offers a lot of quality content. For the asking price, you get the Gorgon hub (two locations, with the main one being larger than Monarch), four smaller locations to travel to, a ton of "unique" items (only three of which, to be fair, are distinct, with the rest just being modded weapons and armor with descriptions); new perks for your character and crew, some nods to the main plot (Groundbreaker captain's girlfriend used as a checkpoint pass) and some cool new ideas (Matt Sprat!). Like Outer Worlds itself, Perils is not revolutionary: this isn't what Mask of the Betrayer was to NWN2. But if you liked the base game and were hoping for more places to go and more to do, this DLC won't leave you feeling disappointed. Oh -- and kudos to the voice actress that does Parvati: taking that NPC through the volunteer disposal area was the first time in a long time I felt genuinely bad for a computer game character.
