Good dystopian theme with bad gameplay

The story is really nice and its theme is still more and more actual. There are some cool future predictions in the game. Nowadays it is almost funny to watch the main protagonist to be scared and confused by a drone spying on him. The writing is great, the voice acting is top-notch, graphically it also looks quite appealing and the puzzles are mostly ok. The only thing that is bad is the gameplay. You cant simply jump from one screen to another with the usual double click. You have to watch the entire process and it is after a while very tedious. You will run and you will run a lot because the locations are often huge, plus you will watch a lot of the same unskippable animations. I do not remember any other adventure where I would be forced to run so much. You will also regulary have a problem where to click to move into the right direction because there is often no way to tell as there are no signs and the area where to click is sometimes really tiny. It is still a good thought provoking game if you can overlook the gameplay issues. House of Tales learned from their mistakes and perfected the gameplay in their masterpiece Overclocked in which the main protagonist is voiced in English by the same brilliant voice actor.

Great story, flawed execution

The story behind The Moment of Silence is great, and as relevant now as it was 14 years ago. However, I found myself fighting against the game engine almost all the time, trying to trigger scene changes, or pixel hunting to find the one point on the screen I have to click. In addition there were several puzzles where I knew EXACTLY what I had to do, but the game wanted me to do things in a specific order. Oh you have a VCR, a TV and a cable? Cool. Plug the cable into the tv? NOPE. Combine the cable with the VCR? NOPE. use the VCR with the TV? NOPE. Plut the VCR on the TABLE, and then connect the cable? Yep. And at no point did my character offer hints that this was the way things should be done. Another puzzle involved me needing to return a key to an unconscious guard. I didn't know that this was what I had to do until I consulted a walkthrough. When I tried to advance, all my character said was "not yet". Just the addition of a line saying "better put the key back in his pocket beforte he wakes up" would have saved me a lot of headscratching. And the final puzzle was SUCH a chore, all that running around and adjusting satellite dishes by trial and error? Nope. 2 stars for the story, because it's a good-un. But the game frustrates.

Cyberpunk thriller

I do remember that I genuinely liked the protagonist, additionally the mystery of what actually goes on was extremely motivating to uncover and the delivery of the actual "Moment of Silence" at the end of the game was an extremely satisfying end to the plot; I really recommend!

Forgotten masterpiece

It has minor issues with animation etc. BUT the story is actually interesting and keeps you hooked. Adventure gamers should pick this up and try it :)
