Closer to a movie than a game

The game is very nice, has a great feeling to it, the world is wonderful... however a few things I really though brought it down are: - the beginning of the game (the pump) is rather hardcore, the rest is way too easy and fast - the main duration of the game is not spent playing, but rather watching poorly acted dialogues or waiting for april to walk through empty screens, which while adding a feeling to the game are a pain when they must be gone through numerous times. - the end of the story just goes too fast compared to the beginning. Stark side all happens at once, without any real story to it. The second point is really a bummer, and creates more frustration at reading subtitles to skip as fast a possible the dialogues rather than just playing.

I loved it!

Absolutely wonderful! Yes, it is wordy at times, but if you enjoy a great story and a long fantastic journey (between two worlds), then you will love this game. *ProTip: Double click to run. <--Still not that fast, but it's better than walking. I didn't figure that out until halfway through the game.

I am not sure

This game may be 5* for others, it is only 3 for us. This isn't as much of a game as it is a "talk to everybody on Earth" simulator. At chapter 4/12 it felt like we've been playing for an eternity already. Old-fashioned, you might say. And that's true - and it should not be a problem (and maybe we are just too impatient). But it takes so much time to finally do something apart from talking, and then the solutions to some problems turn out to be pretty wild considering how much trudging along you have to endure if you don't have a brilliant hunch. The interface does not lessen the frustration-factor either. In this version we have played It takes about 6 clicks on an object till you get the "look-use-talk" tool, and if you look at anything, it will take another 6 more clicks to try and use it. Maybe we will give it another chance later, but it's very unlikely at mom. Unfortunate. Could be a good little game if it was not this time-consuming.

Sad that it's over

I will be the first to admit that I never played this game back when it first came out. In fact, until I saw it GOG, it was never on my radar. Now, having just finished the game <10 minutes ago, I regret not having experienced it sooner. I loved the world (well, worlds) and the characters, as well as the epic scope of the story. Don't be like me, play this game now. The worst part of this game is that it ends.

Aged poorly, but a good old game.

Some things in this world get better with age. Cars, wine, women.... 'Kay, so maybe not women, but this game in many instances has aged like milk. The graphics look terrible, they're at a fixed rexolution, so they can only be stretched across your fancy new widescreen monitor if you want the picture to fit, and some of the puzzles are absolutely nonensical. With the fewest spoilers possible, there's a puzzle that goes something like: Bread + Bird = Inflatable Duck Inflatable duck + Clamp = Duck-activated clamp Duck-clamp + subway rail = key Now, if you can follow all of that, you must be genius, a god, or an idiot. But even if you can't, you will be sucked into the story in a way unparalleled even by todays standards. The narrative puts you right in the very uncomfortable shoes of April Ryan travelling between dimensions to rescue the fate of 2 worlds. If that's not good enough for you, wait until you come across some good old fashioned humor that you just can't find any more.
