When it comes to SNK arcade ports. Make sure is from Code Mystics, it also has rollback netcode so invite your old school arcade buddies and get this game.
Played on Windows 10 64bit with an Xbox One controller. First played on Xbox One in the ACA Neo Geo games series.
The Last Blade 2 expands on what was good about the first game. 2D sprites hold up well, with video filter options to create the old arcade cabinets CRT monitors. Controls are tight and smooth. Characters' moves and special attacks are varied and fun. Opponent AI is challenging without being cheap. The medieval Japanese setting gives The Last Blade games a distinct identity. Many cool features for a $10 fighting game.
This has quickly become one of my favorite fighters, ever. Quirky and unique, technically demanding and interesting, beautiful sprites and music, fluid and challenging gameplay, this little fighting game from the late 90's holds up incredibly well and is worth buying, 100%, if you at all care about fighting games.
Absolutely incredible, fast-paced, arcade action, with beautiful, intricate sprites- larger pixels made possible by the NG's superior processing power, and at times it's like watching a manga. There's so much detail, it's mind-blowing. SNK leaves no stone unturned.
The gameplay is fluid, the characters are memorable, and the storyline (for a fighting game) was intriguing, and really keeps the player invested.
"The Last Blade 2" is considered the superior, and most loved game of the two, but 1 is also great, if you can get your hands on it.
To sum it up it's a 2D Soulcalibur (but no kicks), the gameplay has real depth, and makes for excellent, lighting fast multiplayer with friends, made possible with the online play addition, which is a stroke of genius they've added it. I hope they give other classics the same treatment.
Despite it being over 20 years old, it's aged so damn well. Definitely pick this up if you like fighting games with depth, or good animation. This game has both in spades.
Last Blade 2 is one of the best looking SNK fighting games to date and both the character roster and system mechanics are really well made. The netcode is great because it is rollback and the leaderboard has a cool feature to watch which players plays [X] character the best, but at the same time the game lacks some important features like lobbies for online matches, match replays and windowed fullscreen mode.
I hope SNK keeps supporting this platform with more releases(like Fatal Fury 3 and KOF '95) and said releases include those features.
