A poor fighting show

They made sure to add logos of developer and publisher companies at the launch, and they included Gog logo as well. You know stuff, Gog presents and what not, which is not a usual thing to see... but that didn't make the game any better. No matter how lazy this attempt was at making this game feel premium or exclusive to Gog, it didn't work as intended. The game suffers from major issues. They did not bother porting this properly at 16:9 screen resolution. They kept the original 4:3 ratio, and filled the extra screen with the black colour. The graphics look decent, considering this is an attempt at porting an arcade game from 2002. One can not use a controller. Keyboard is the only way to go. The controls can not be changed neither. The key bindings are fixed, but the default controls feel uncomfortable and totally randomly placed. I do not know what have they tried to do here, but they failed at whatever they did. They probably wanted to cash in on someone’s childhood nostalgia. Avoid this lazy emulator cash grab.

A good game, a shoddy port

TL:DR; Just get the Unlimited Match version instead, or this for cheap if you just want the ROMs I've got nothing to say about KoF 2002 itself besides good things, a fantastic fighter worth playing. as for what you get aside from the ROM(s) it's pretty dire, a launcher menu with some options- some that in my experience, don't even work (Blood and game speed) But speaking of game speed.. Depending on what processor you have (and/or luck) the game might run as intended Or like me (With my Intel Core 2 Duo) you'll be faced with it running as if it was on permanent- fast forward. And as far as I can tell, there's no fix for that. All of this is baffling to me after I noticed DotEmu was involved with this, or should I say. They did all the heavy lifting- or it seems. Can't tell if this is an early release of theirs, but given the issues guess it would be a fair assumption. Either way, it's definitely a blemish on their track record. But I think that falls more on SNK than them, it's like if you used GGPO but implementing it poorly

Another horrible DotEmu port

The same as their Art of Fighting 2 port! I'll just mimic that review here because it all applies to this as well - This game is absolutely unplayable. Why? You can only use keyboard controls and they can't even be remapped!? Of course they are mapped horribly. The arrow keys are your directional movement (forward, back, crouch and jump) which any fighting game fan will immediately know makes it nearly impossible to do special moves where you have to do a quarter, half or full circle! A (punch) and B (kick) are mapped to X and C while C (throw) and D (taunt) are mapped to the Q and W keys making it difficult to quickly and properly switch from punch/kick to throw/taunt. It just blows my mind how DotEmu thought that this would be acceptable for any game let alone a fighting game that requires quick and responsive movement! Avoid this port at all costs!
