Description
Take Hugo through an animated "classic" style adventure, solving puzzles, finding hidden objects and outwitting the maniac hosts of the haunted house to rescue Hugo's sweetheart Penelope. Use the intuitive point & click mouse interface to move around and get Hugo to do your bidding. Just look at what's in store: a vicious dog, a mad professor, hidden passages, vampire bats and much more, all in a gloriously colorful animated cartoon style. And that's just the first game! In games two and three, take part in a huge mystery whodunit (with a few surprise twists and plenty of red-herrings) in an English country cottage and race to save Penelope's life after she is bitten by a vicious tree spider in an Amazonian jungle adventure.
  • Includes all three games: Hugo's House of Horrors, Hugo II: Whodunit? and Hugo III: Jungle of Doom!
  • Gather clues, solve mysteries, and rescue your sweetheart, Penelope, in this classic parser-based adventure game.
  • Features an intuitive point & click mouse interface in addition to the command line interface of the original version.

Surprisingly nice!

I think it was something like an "indie game" of the 90's, it felt amateurish, but in spite of that, it was quite enjoyable! I think anyone who likes EGA "quests" in Sierra style will enjoy these games too. I give it 4 stars just so you would not expect a lot... and then perhaps it will surprise you :)

The ultimate 90's impulse buy.

The Hugo games, while not the most sophisticated adventures- even at the time-are worth playing for their nostalgia value. I remember finding the first one in one of those racks of disks that game stores used to have. I then hunted down all the sequels with a scarily obsessive determination. Anyone that likes typing in old school adventures will get a kick out of them.

No way to play hugo 2 or 3

this claims to be the trilogy, however while the files seem to be there for hugo 2 and 3, there is no executable, so there is no way to play the second or third game via this download

Rear view mirror

In 1989, one guy ---with a little help on the graphics side --- could produce an entertaining and commercially viable shareware game. You may need SCUMMVM for play under 64 bit Windows: The Nitemare 3D trilogy used DOOM WADs to construct a more or less family-oriented introduction to the first-person shooter.
