Description

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake is a remake of the second entry in the well-known and popular rail-shooter series. Take on the lone role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in co-op mode to neutralize the dangerous undead monsters standing in your way.

In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed that the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.

  • Remastered music (with the classic soundtrack also available in the game)
  • Modern graphics
  • Gameplay faithful to the original game
  • Co-op mode
  • Multiple endings and branching levels

  • Classic Campaign: Almost two years after the events of the first installment, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are deployed to investigate a city seized by undead creatures.
  • Boss Mode: Take on the challenge of defeating the game’s bosses as fast as you can.
  • Training Mode: Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

Waste of money

Not only they did a previous remake of one of the most iconic lightgun games ever a complete disaster by not not having actual lightgun support but they somehow managed to do it again. It's like buying a car without a steering wheel... Can't possibly start to comprehend what goes on in devs minds. Thousand people gave feedback for the previous game and now this. Save your money. There won't be any 3rd party devs to save the game like last time. If the game devs don't add lightgun there's no point. It sucks big time as the aim offsets everytime you stop the game like pause or continue after dying.

Good old game?

Why is this a good old game, when it's neither good nor old?

too expensive...

The game is good. I own the original CD version, but the price is unfortunately too high. If the game is on sale, I'll definitely jump at it.

comeback of arcade shooters

Faithful recreation of the original, beat-for-beat in the gameplay loop and scenes; it does not reinvent the wheel and that's exactly why I like it. The game is the same just with upgraded visuals, sharper audio, and in the case of this sequel the og soundtrack is an option. Not sure why all the reviews are dogpiling on this game. Things like the voice acting "has no charm" (which, if we're being honest, is nothing more than nostalgia rationilizing technology limitations of the time) is wrong, the voice acting is kept stilted and surreal but with more distinctive voices, and unlike those reviews who are going off sheer rosy-tinted memory, I actually have the original ports on Wii and play them quite often to this day, so I know most of the so-called "charm" is still there. The game launched with bugs, which I encountered during the demo, but I can confidently say they're non-existent now. Overall, the game delivers on the pure arcade loop: aim, shoot, reload, repeat. No grinding, no filler, just frantic action from start to finish.
