A highschool gang leader Ringo Ishikawa trying to live through his last autumn before graduation. With his best friends.
You should play it if:
1) You're fond of good stories with strong dialogues (especially about growing up)
2) You're a fight games enthusiast (you'll get your hands on some unique brawl mechanic and I promise you'll be satisfied)
3) You're into some yakuza-delinquent aesthetics
Basically, the game is an existential open world beat'em up with some school sim elements. It has a little of everything: a town to explore, day-night cycle, npc on their schedule, battle grinding, school grinding, mini-games (ping-pong, billiard, video-poker, video-game console with one game...) and so on.
But the main thing is the story I'm trying to tell. And I designed the game to make you feel this story. So it's not about rival gangs, or taking over turfs, or anything. You just live there and feel. And that's all.

I dropped the game after few minutes of play. I believe that the game has good music, good backgrounds and good story and that is why I’ll watch walkthrough on YouTube.
Why I dropped? Controls are awful and you have only one attempt to change buttons and then due to bug you can’t do that. But changing buttons won’t improve control in general.
For example, you need to press simultaneously punch and kick to jump.
I think what was odd about this game was that I went in to it expecting a beat 'em up game and I ended up rarely fighting. The story was somber. It was melancholic. It was more an exploration of the inevitability of youth and the march of time towards growing up, whether you're ready for it or not. This was a rare game for me: one I actually finished, but it's also a game that it has been over 6 years since I beat it, and I am still not ready to replay it. I honestly don't think I ever will. I know it's been said that the ending is immutable, but I think that's absolutely okay, because some folk are willing to change and embrace the future, but this is a story of one guy who isn't willing to do so.
I couldn't say if the combat is any good. I realized I stunk at it pretty early on, but I played to see how the story unfolded and I don't regret my choice in the matter. You can go after the game like it's a beat 'em up or you can take it as more of a visual novel. Both are fine. Both have merit. Both lead to the same conclusion. I wish this review was decent, but hopefully you're just going to go play it for yourself and decide if it's for you or not.
Unfortunately the author of this game decided not to release updates for GOG and Switch versions and only maintains steam release. I cannot recommend it.
No idea why people love this game... it's a tedious experience with little reward.
Sure, it looks kinda cute, sounds kinda nice, the dynamics are kinda neat... the first few times. Then all of it gets grindy fast.
Mechanics such as... Press and hold the key to do a pull-up, let go after Ringo goes down, which takes forever, and do it over again, the more pull-ups you can do, the longer it takes in game and in real life! Sounds like fun? Fighting gets tedious fast as well. Press some keys so you grind your way to higher attack and defense stats. Real exciting. These don't increase during martial arts training, which makes no sense...
"Minigames" like pool where you don't do anything except position your character, press a button, and see if you get a ball in the hole - no player skill required - at all. Just grind to up your in-game skill level.
Not like you're told do much anyway, starting with the non-intuitive main menu. Only controls are partly explained in the tutorial, not what you have to do or how. Sure, you can figure it out by yourself, grinding endlessly and trying to figure out what to do at what time to trigger which unrewarding little dialogue. More chores - write down or memorize which shop is open when, which character is where at which time.
Or you consult a guide - made by users, of course, not the devs. And then grind according to instructions. More fun? You don't get rewarded either, except for some dialogue and achievement there's no reason for you to care about.
There is zero userfriendliness - you don't have an inventory. Can' skip animations. Can't skip / fast forward time while reading. Leave the screen acidentally through a door - all the pickups from downed enemies are gone. The bag you wanted to sell is gone as well. Rinse and repeat. Just to make it even more tedious.
