The First Tree is a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his estranged father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death. Along the way, players can uncover artifacts and stories from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.
Not a "fox simulator," but an emotional, intimate story by a one-man team with an ending you won't soon forget.
Featuring a gorgeous, orchestral soundtrack by acclaimed artists like Message to Bears, Lowercase Noises, and Josh Kramer.
A short story-driven game (about 2 hours long) with some light puzzle solving, platforming, and no enemies.
The game is really stunning, both visually and in terms of the music. The story is simple but works well with the game design and characters. At times, levels feel too large, leaving the player feeling a little bored with just walking everywhere. The music is beautiful and stands out as one of the best orchestral soundracks to a game I've ever heard.
Beautiful and immersive. The music is magical. To relax and meditate. As a narrative story, it is not very re-playable. In his style it is a great game.
more of a story than a game, not much as far as game play run around as a fox collect stars, find secrets, and hear the story. the graphics are cool and the story and voices are well done. also it is short, so get it on sale.
I choosed this game, because of non-fighting character of the game, which could be fine for small kids. Well, the idea of a fox searching for it´s cubs is not bad and also the story about a guy and his relationship with his father is original, but in my eyes it hadn´t work. For small kids it´s not so funny. An adult can play to hear the orignial story . It´s also a game, which you play once and it´s just enough.
The game description says it has puzzles, platforming and story, but it's more of a story/exploration/walking sim with 3 tiny platforming challenges and 1 part you could barely even consider a puzzle, The story was a little bit cliche and the voice acting wasn't amazing but judging from the credits, the whole game was done by a guy and his wife so I can't give it too much crap
As for the gameplay, it's got a nice world to look at and decent (licensed) music but the levels are way too big, it just felt like padding at a certain point, so while you are running to the next dialog or collectable, there's just nothing but the, while nice, still simple and sometimes even crude looking environments
The game is fine but $10 is a VERY steep price for this, I only paid 1$ which is more than fair, I'd have been ok paying 2 or 3 dollars but the game is very short and nothing to really write home about it, 3.3/5
