Description
The First Templar follows the story of two main characters – a French Templar, and his companion, a noble lady who has been proclaimed a heretic. Taking control over these two unlikely allies, the player must uncover the mysteries behind the Templar Order, play a role in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail. The heroes face powerful opponents at every turn, including Sacracen, King Philip the IV of France and the Inquisition.

The First Templar features both single player and co-op modes. When playing solo, the player can switch between the two characters, leaving the control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any moment a second player can join in and take control of the AI-controlled hero.

I hate it when you can't save!

There is no save option, not even "save and quit". And even more annoyingly you are not notified when there is a checkpoint. So unless you have the time and motivation to play a whole scene in one go, you don't eveen know how much of your progress you will lose when you quit. Another really annoying thing is the skill tree. You start with a few known skills at the center of the tree, but you can only see what the skills adjacent to your known ones actually are. So there is no way to plan your character development in advance. I got maybe an hour into the first game and lost at least a quarter of my progress when I had to quit. :( I seriously doubt that I will try again.

not so good.

The gameplay is quite stiff and repetitive, all the missions are almost the same and fighting doesn't bring much joy. I bought this game when it was still fresh and i regret every penny.

I played the game when I bought it years ago, not from here. I played a few hours of the game. I stopped playing for reasons that have nothing to do with the game itself. It's a linear action game where you unlock by progressing in the story, more moves. The fights have a Asscreed vibe, in that there are moves which work an all, moves which work on certain times against certain opponents. There was nothing wrong with the game the few hours I played it. As long as you are not looking for an open world game, or 2021 graphics, there is a good chance you will enjoy the game and definitely not feel cheated for the price, especially if you buy it on sale.

I enjoyed it quite a lot

I am happy that I stumbled upon this game. The Templar setting is not used up in video games and actually felt refreshing. The fights are rather easy once you get the hang of it. Only bosses can be difficult. Ineeded several attempts for the final boss but it is definitely not unreasonobly hard. The bosses just don't seem in line with the general difficulty. Fight ten enemies at once? Not a problem. Fight a boss one on one? Different story. Now this game would have been better with a proper budget. I am quite certain that the graphic was outdated even back in 2011. The only thing within the game that actually upset me was the fact that I sometimes missed bonus objectives or collectables just because I walked a few steps into the main quest direction and suddenly a bridge or wall collpased behind me. I finished the game with excatly ONE(!!) gravestone missing.

not bad

The game is a little shabby. But it still has something to do with it. Quite an interesting plot and pretty good mechanics. The gameplay is repetitive, but anyway, the game can captivate you for a certain time. And that's a pretty big plus :) A bit like the first Assassin's Creed, especially since the setting and combat system are very similar. If you are interested in the Knights Templar and the history of the Crusades, this game might fit you well.
