Description
The First Templar follows the story of two main characters – a French Templar, and his companion, a noble lady who has been proclaimed a heretic. Taking control over these two unlikely allies, the player must uncover the mysteries behind the Templar Order, play a role in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail. The heroes face powerful opponents at every turn, including Sacracen, King Philip the IV of France and the Inquisition.

The First Templar features both single player and co-op modes. When playing solo, the player can switch between the two characters, leaving the control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any moment a second player can join in and take control of the AI-controlled hero.

It's good but wit problems

Wit a lot of tecnical problems, this game drives you away with good gameplay, very interesting and sometimes even complex story, and a good atmosphere. An overall 7,5/10

Interesting game, terrible control port

I got this game on a free giveaway, so maybe I can't really complain. I was hoping for something sort of along the lines of Lord of the Rings: War in the North, since they both came out around the same time and were linear ARPGs with co-op and a few different playable characters. Unfortunately, I put it down within half an hour because of the (IMO) unacceptable state of the controls. It is listed as having controller support, which is true to an extent. However, the joysticks are simply mapped WASD/mouse motion. This means that movement is effectively 8-directional, which is very jarring in a 3rd person action game. It also means that camera movement is *very* jarring - there is no gradual acceleration when moving the right joystick; the camera simply doesn't move at all until the joystick is about halfway between center and edge, and then suddenly the camera is moving at full speed. I'm not really interested in playing a simple, third-person ARPG with M&KB (though based on the forums, those may not work so well either). If I really cared, there's a chance I could disable the controller support and come up with some scheme in reWASD that would work better, at least for the camera movement, but I'm simply not excited enough about this game to go through the trouble.

Simple slasher

Playing it once on hard difficulty is more than enough. Nothing epic, just oldschool, simple and a little entertaining.

7 levels are great and 14 levels are bad

I really like the start of the game and several missions before the last one. The story is good, gameplay is good also. It's simple and fun hack and slash to play to relax. I have feeling that devs did like 7-8 levels and found out that game is too short. So they decided to add more missions just to extend the game time. Some of these "filler" missions are bad, others are just horrible, but the game is still fun. It hooks you at the start and when you start to hate, it returns to good missions.
