Everything that Bethesda is.
It's clumsy, rickety, and filled with bugs. It is also largely the basis for all Bethesda games going forward from it. It can be quite a feat to look into the technology they put into this game, but only when it's all working properly. Which, even at the final release, it wasn't. The thing is, Daggerfall tried to do far too much in a very limited technological space, and there were consequences that were immediately pigeonholed into. Nearly every complaint anyone has had with the Elder Scrolls as a series can directly trace linage to here. Terrible inventory systems, overtly long dungeons to little to no reward, a story that will be retconned into something more generic, NPCs with the personality of a flat sprite, it all starts here.
