Description
In Andergast, whose inhabitants are considered to be notoriously superstitious, King Efferdan awaits a state visit from high-ranking dignitaries. For centuries the kingdom has been at odds with neighboring Nostria, but now first steps are being undertaken toward a lasting peace. But a plague of crows troubles the king, for the birds are acting with unusual aggressiveness, even attacking humans. Moreover, there are those among the citizens of Andergast who swear that the crows are bringing them dark nightmares. As the belligerent creatures infiltrate even the castle itself, the king seeks a skilled bird catcher - an opportunity for young Geron to prove that the reputation for ill luck that has followed him since childhood is undeserved. Following an audience with the king, the prestigious task is assigned to him. However, not only does his task prove unexpectedly difficult, but it also turns out to be the first step of the greatest adventure of his life, which will lead him to the borders of the charted lands of Aventuria and beyond.

With a history of more than 25 years, The Dark Eye is one of Europe's best-known role-playing brands. In addition to the popular pen & paper adventures, TDE has also inspired a series of successful computer games. The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav takes you deep into the world of Aventuria, where you’ll take on the role of young Geron and get caught up in a mysterious plot that threatens to wipe out the kingdom of Andergast, a back-water realm in the northwest of Aventuria.

  • Experience the world of The Dark Eye as a classic point-and-click adventure!
  • A breathtaking art style that shows every nuance of Aventuria.
  • Solve a variety of side quests each with different paths towards a solution.

Christian Parent Review

The story has dark elements and violence/gore, but nothing too horrible for children in the language or romance department beyond somewhat regular uses of "d--n" as a curse word. Like most fantasy games, you have to deal with fairy tales, gods, demonic forces, and this isn't a trip to Narnia. If the broad fantasy genre offends, this is one to steer clear of. The main character isn't treated nicely and is regularly confronted with choices which can seem morally grey or outright wrong, including lying or stealing. If playing with your kids, conversation-starters abound in this came with concepts of fairness, justice, right, and wrong I was able to talk through with my kids as we played through together. For myself, I think there comes a time where parents have to talk their kids through the above. I would venture this might not be a bad game to do it with, and actually play through with a young adventurer. However, I would not want my preteen kids playing this without me. In terms of the game overall, and with the above caveats, everything comes together. I was pleasantly suprised. Good story meets engaging storytelling meets interesting characters meets captivating artwork. Like a lot of games, there is room for disagreement on if the puzzle solutions always make sense but if you aren't averse to an occasional trip to a walkthrough, you don't end up stuck for too long or too often.

Great but buggy

Daedalic does it again with beautiful art, story, soundtrack, and characters.. and unfortunately with buggy issues again. For starters, in fullscreen there is a graphical glitch, every few seconds there a black or white artifact that comes and goes. There is no option for borderless fullscreen window. So when you put it to windowed mode (which fixes the artifacts), now you see the top bar for the window, and you can't access the inventory at the bottom of the screen. The fix for this is setting it to 1920x1200 instead of 1080p. It gives you the fullscreen look while being windowed, although if you use multiple monitors you will see the edges on other monitors, which isn't that bad. Now the most annoying issue. Every time you load the next screen, which you do often, there is a few second lag. Your input freezes and you have to wait to click things. This becomes pretty frustrating and feels like they should have fixed this shortly after launch, but there's complaints online for all of the above issues going back years. Does this change the story, art, characters, sound? No, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially when you've had these, or similar issues, in other games of yours. The lack of polish is what separates this review from saying "One of the best games/stories I've ever experienced" to a rant about how you can't manage to fix your games. Despite all that, I still recommend Chains of Satinav. I played Memoria first a while ago and loved it. Now I have to go back through Memoria so I understand references, and Geron, a bit better.

Really liked it, scared of the ending

-----------Spoiler alert in case you didnt finish it----------- I really liked the game, i got mad with geron for lying to nuri and the do it with her and by the end i was sure i had to kill her, i didnt see another way out, i tried but luckily geron said no, then went for the tears and ring, all good. Kind of my first actual game of puzzle with point and click, all in all, great game.
