It's cute, even if a bit untactful

It's cute. Graphics are very pretty. Tarot gameplay loop is alright. Characters are cool and cute but not very fleshed-out. Some sequences are cringe, like the introduction of the transgender character. Like, I know they mean well, but you can't expedite this girl's transition process in like 10 minutes by reading slow when it's an often painful growth process that takes years in real life. Political theories presented are... alright, I mean, it's kinda political science 101 on social democracy vs liberal communism. The game starts to say something kinda remarquable when it touches on community politics, how the relationships and the real life intersects with political theory and stuff but it's also pretty thin. The game has an extensive content warning screen with like, basically universally bleak stuff, and then some, which would hint at some depth that can hardly be found. It's a bit cringe on one hand, using tragic queer and feminine stories for a very mild, shallow result, but on the other I see it as a testimony of normalisation which I find cool. All in all I can't say I didn't like it. It's like comfort food, some light flutty pastry with icing sugar and lemon zest. You'll be disapointed if you expect more than some casual discourse on political theory, lots of good will and awesome visual and sound design. Also, please read the content warning screen, everything is in there.

Best game

I've played The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood and really enjoyed it. It is an unusual and fascinating game in which you create your own tarot cards and influence the fate of the cosmic society of witches. The game has beautiful graphics, interesting characters and an exciting story. I felt part of this world and empathized with the heroine Fortuna, who was banished to an asteroid for her prophecy. The game made me think about different aspects of life, freedom, love and friendship. I recommend this game to anyone who loves original and magical stories.

One Of A Kind Interactive Visual Novel

The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood is a remarkably unique visual novel experience. The story can branch off in numerous ways and the first few times you play this will provide very different experiences. Ultimately, the gameplay consists of deck building and tons of meaningful player decisions. You play as a fortune teller and guide numerous NPCs you meet through their problems as well as your own. The story's about the fortune teller being exiled by her witchy group and she gets desperate to escape the isolation. RNG/Randomness has a small affect on the direction of the story, but as long as you build your deck properly, the player can mostly decide how the story plays out. The game length is pretty good for a visual novel. It took me about 11 hours to complete one playthrough. But most importantly, this game incentivizes multiple playthroughs. So The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood is great value considering the undiscounted price.

I practice divination, this game gets it

Disclaimer: I've only done one full playthrough so far. Pros: Lots of moving parts and choices, highly replayable Very imaginitive aesthetics and atmospheric soundtrack Highly intellectual and philosphical but still approachable Cons: Occasionally choices don't seem to matter, or the most logical thing isn't offered You can't really personalize anything aesthetic about the MC herself It's A LOT of reading (no pun intended) Overall I have enjoyed it and will play it again. As a note, I practice divination, primarily achillomancy through the I Ching but I've also dabbled in tarot, and I feel like the team behind this game really grasps the fundamentals about divination in general. It's actually inspired me to explore tarot again and helped me connect my understanding of achillomancy to tarot in a way I hadn't before. I don't think tarot will ever resonate with me the way that working with the I Ching does, but still it's crazy how much this game has touched me.

A cute yet confused "visual novel"

Great music and pixel art, but that's about all the praise I have to give the game. I finished it, and then tried to replay it, and was incredibly underwhelmed and disappointed. The main gameplay aspect, which is crafting cards, is both useless and overpowered. I can very well craft 4 well-rounded cards and just use them throughout the game, or only keep "bad" or "good" cards and set my game to play out the way. Either way, the outcome is sadly very much the same, because your choices and divinations don't really matter. The optics are bad, the gameplay is meaningless, and your choices are trite and very much made within the first minutes of the game (what you will sacrifice, what you desire the most). The writers clearly didn't know what they were trying to say WRT the entire political aspect of the game, which unfortunately represents a big chunk of it. I would expect whoever wrote it to have more developed knowledge of political theory rather than whatever's "morally right"-seeming. In regards to trigger warnings, suicide is represented as an escape and savior from mundane (transphobic) life, and it's really handled poorly. It has 0 replayability since most of your choices have little effect, dialogues you've read (most of them) are unskippable, and neither are cutscenes. It's an interesting world and universe, but unfortunately the story was developed to serve the interests of no one. And this is more of a personal note, but Jasmine completely backstabbed me and ruined someone's life, but the game just kept going as usual and wouldn't allow my character to react in any way to this. Just bad.
