Sometime during the last century, an experimenter with time, space, and early computers created a bizarre machine. The inventor's name was Baron Fortesque. The machine was... THE CHAOS ENGINE. Although primitive, the machine became incredibly powerful and went crazy, turning humans into razor-toothed, armor-plated killing machines.
This gripping, action-packed adventure takes you through four distinctive graphic worlds and 16 challenging levels – alone or with a friend! Each level is loaded with fiendish traps, secret passages, and puzzles. Which means to survive this maniacal gauntlet filled with hordes of different monsters, you'll need to use not only arsenal of hands-on firepower but also your mind! And if you can survive all that, you still have to take on the Chaos Engine itself.
Co-op notice (Mac): Co-op on Mac is still being developed and might not work properly.

A gorgeous re-creation of the original Amiga/SNES/Genesis game (Called "Soldiers of Fortune" in North America), the game sports a full suite of enhancements, including full 360-degree control for analog controllers, though it's still best experienced with the original 8-way mapping. It runs at a solid framerate, and the pulse-pounding techno soundtrack fits the hectic action nicely. It's one of the finest top-down shooters of its time, and this remake is an excellent way to experience it again.
The Chaos Engine is a true classic from the Amiga days. Long story short - the game is a Steampunk/sci-fi top down shooter with several stages and several characters each with their own strengths and weaknesses. It plays much like many games of the period did with fast responsive controls, lots of pickups and glorious same-screen coop action (never could convince my friend to take the Amiga keyboard).
Whether you just want a nostalgia trip back to the days of floppies and some of the most beautiful videogame music ever made or whether you want a quality top-down shooter that's been well modernized (classic mode is still the best though!) then you won't be disappointed with The Chaos Engine.
