Susan Ashworth, known in her neighbourhood as the crazy Cat Lady, is a lonely 40-
year old on the verge of suicide. She has no family, no friends and no hope for a
better future. One day she discovers that five strangers will come along and change everything. But those five, "The Parasites", are also the most ruthless, deranged and cold-blooded bunch of psychopaths the city has ever known. They will stop at nothing to hurt Susan. Unless, she hurts them first...
Susan's few weeks journey doesn't take her across the world and won't turn her into a
hero. She has little faith in others and hardly even cares about herself. She can't fight
and has never fired a gun in her life. But she's hanging onto that thin thread of hope, that in the end, as promised, there's an elusive reward waiting for her. Something worth trying for. Something that'll help her find an unlikely friend. Something that'll give her life a purpose. Susan's journey takes her on a roller-coaster ride between the world of the living and the world of the dead, where the only way to survive is to overcome her biggest weakness: her own self.

This game looks so boring. The game doesn't even uses mouse cursor?! Still if you give a try, you"ll find how bizarre, deep physcho story really is. The design depicts the woman actuall feeling, I think - sometimes grey, sometimes colorful. There is no pixel hunting, but I found this game challenging at some point. I feel the same some times...
I had a weird start with this game at first. I didn't like the graphics. How the lady looked like. Movement of the character made me uneasy. I did not think I would be playing the whole thing.
I'm glad I pushed further and went along with the story. The story builds up really well and I now understand why the beginning had to be like this. The uneasiness is what helps us get into the story. That feeling of wanting to quit the game is key to understanding a person with suicidal thoughts.
As the story develops and strange things happen, things get better somehow. There's an appreciation of life that builds up. For me, the ending was very emotional and I listened to the music through the credits. There's a final message at the very end that hit me even more.
I bought this game on sale, and now I want to buy it for a friend at full price. This might be a lower budget studio, but this game clearly shows heart and dedication. Thank you for this game.
How would you like a game that starts with the main character successfully committing suicide and gets darker and more twisted from there?
There are a lot of games tackling grave health issues, particularly mental ones. Loads of crazy games characters out there and that's part of why we love them so much. But no game ever depicted depression as acurately as The Cat Lady.
The story puts you in the shoes of Susan, a lonely, sad woman who decided who decided to end her life. This is far from the end of the road however when passage to the afterlife is refused to her unless she kills 5 "parasites".
This game is scary. The atmosphere is top notch. The sound ans story are amazing. The gameplay's pretty clunky and slow. The graphics are nothing special. It is also not a particularly challenging game. With it's strong writing, deep emotional moment and brutal violence, The Cat Lady will leave you wanting to live and be a better person.
I cannot recommend it enough.
This game is a true masterpiece, an immersive and emotional tour-de-force unlike anything I have ever played. I really cannot hope to explain in this short review how important it is and how much it meant to me. You play as Susan Ashworth, the cat lady, a lonely middle-aged woman who has just attempted suicide. Through her nine lives she struggles with the dark memories of her past and struggles to cope with the seeming endless darkness of the present. At times it seems too much, but somehow she finds the will to carry on just one more second, just one more minute, while she tries to find meaning in life again. It's a work for the ages, with story telling and voice acting that's almost without comparison. I can't remember the last time I've been so immersed in a game's story since I first played Myst in 1995. I hope you will give this game a try, because it is so worthy of greater attention.
