The Bard's Tale Trilogy

I grew up loving this series, and nXile as done a beautiful job updating and adding in some life enhancements to bring them up to more modern turn based gaming. For those who want to get a rose-colored glasses view of how PC gaming started, and those returning, a great addition to your library.

I'm so happy to have purchased the remastered Bard's Tale trilogy games. I've been playing for more than 11 hours so far and I'm enjoying every minute of it. The graphics, background sounds, and music are so clean and crisp. I remember buying the first Bard's Tale release back in the 80s and I spent so much time drawing out the maps of every town and dungeon and I wrote lots of details about every square. I then did the same thing for Bard's Tale II and III. I solved all of those games, except Dragon Wars which I will eventually solve. It's great to see that there is an on the fly map during game play which I think is a very cool feature; I haven't located my old maps that I drew and so it's great to have access to these on the fly maps. The game play is similar to the original game releases as back in the days and it reminds of when I was using my Apple IIe computer. Now, I'm playing this game on my 16" Macbook Pro laptop and the experience is so much better. I'm so excited that I am planning to solve these remastered versions with this new remastered perspective. If you like RPGs and you want to relive the nostalgic good 'ol days of the Bard's Tale series, then get this trilogy. I highly recommend it! What makes it more fun too is that GOG makes this game very simple to install and play because GOG has the best user dashboard interface for managing all of your games!

This is a great remake of the original Bard's Tale that I played on the Apple II in the 80s. Nice graphics. The game is much easier to play with the automap and a spell selection list rather than keying in the code.

Remember the 80's. Great Game.
