Description
A mysterious signal originating from the Tharsis region of Mars set us on a frantic mission. Who sent it? And why? Impossible questions, but in them lie the key to humanity’s survival.

Now, millions of miles away from home, a micrometeoroid storm has left us with a severely damaged ship, two deceased crew, and the sneaking suspicion this trip was doomed from the start.

Tharsis is a turn-based space strategy game. With dice. And cannibalism. It puts you in control of humanity’s first mission to Mars, just as it’s struck by a micrometeoroid storm. You must guide your crew through disasters, food shortages, and the unforgiving nature of space — all while maintaining your sanity amidst cryptic signals and warnings from Mars.

Defy the odds, make the difficult decisions, and embark on the most important mission in human history.
  • Command humanity's first mission to Mars in a unique turn-based strategy experience
  • A dynamic events system that ensures no two games of Tharsis are alike
  • A hard mode for those of you who want your trip to Mars to be a little more... death-filled

Not So Random

What is essentially a dice game includes a whole lot of control over what you're doing. Sometimes it's better to ignore the obvious problem and try to improve something else. When you first start, it might seem like the dice are against you. But then you start making more intelligent decisions and realise the dice are now working for you. Edgy artwork for the cut scenes is very eye-pleasing, but the story is laughably bad. Almost anything else would have been better writing. That said, I still give the game 5 stars for balancing variety and choice against randomness and fun. A very good game which you can sit down to for 10 minutes or a few hours. Plus, you get to eat dead crew members.

The dice rolls are unabashedly CHEATING!

The makers stated on the Steam community page, that the dice rolls are "physics" based. See: https://steamcommunity.com/app/323060/discussions/0/458605613413328493/ While they seems doing that, but this "physics" is definitely come from another dimension, not from our reality. The dices moves so awkwardly, that they doesn't follow any rules. They most of the times flips to a side so incredibly unrealistically, just to be sure you can't get good numbers. Many times they flip awkwardly to one side, and you get a number that is literally not the one that is really on that side, you can see it! It just change to a completely different number, just make sure you can't win in that given situation!!! Too bad, because the graphics are really great, and the game-play is very unique, and deep. But this cheating dice rolls are just ruined everything... I wouldn't recommend it, don't buy this, unless you are a masochist...

Glad I gave it a chance!

The dice roll mechanic seems to have put a lot of people off, but I enjoyed juggling probabilities and mitigating risks just like almost every other game, especially turn-based ones. One that comes to the forefront of my mind is the combat in fallout classic where you have to carefully decide how you best spend your AP (dice count), sometimes you need to prioritise your targets, actions have a percentage of success (dice rolls) and finally you can make use of the perks system to get bonuses (professions). Anyway, some points that helped me: * You can repair something over several deployments * Food isn't really a priority if dice are well stocked * Research points are spent lowest number first (handy if you want a 'free' shuffle)

Dice-Roll Fuck-Over (Space Edition)

Unfair and with bloody unlocks. Why can't we have nice things instead of this?

Flawed to pieces

Never got past third turn due to ship killer events every turn that require all four crew for one event meaning the other two or three failures kill you off. In the first turn of one play i actually lost three of four crew. Too random.
