Terroir is a 3D tile-based tycoon game where you manage your very own vineyard. In Terroir, you grow a variety of different grape varietals, craft your wine, and expand and manage your Estate. You'll also have to deal with factors such as weather and random events, which can either make or break your business.
Features
Some of the game's features and mechanics include:
Choose from a selection of different grape varieties, each with their own demands.
Dynamic weather system reflecting the unpredictability of real world climate.
Each complete playthrough lasts 60 in-game years, but Players can continue playing without contributing to their final score.
Craft wine through the game's 4 winemaking processes: Crushing, Fermentation, Pressing, and Ageing. Each type of grape needs to be crafted a certain way to achieve the best results, so you'll have to learn and master each one.
Start out with a single planting tile, then expand your Estate to up to 33 tiles, using 6 different tile types. Some tiles affect the ones around it, so placement is key.
Customize your estate with ambient items.
CHANCE & CIRCUMSTANCE: Terroir's random event and mission system. Players can open the Mystery Box and choose between CHANCE (a random event that could either have a positive or undesirable outcome) or CIRCUMSTANCE (a mission that a Player completes for rewards, or gets penalized for failing).
Join Wine Awards for a chance to earn bonuses to your wine's value and your Estate's renown.
Clean, minimalist design and gorgeous low-poly 3D models.
Original soundtrack composed and performed by Singapore's CLARQuinet ensemble.
Put on your field gloves, grab a pair of pruning shears and build your Chateau literally from the ground up. Good luck, and cheers!
It's a satisfactory game. You won't be screaming "hallelujah" or anything like that, but it is a good game to spend a little time and have some fun while been challegend by the conditions.
Graphics are simple but cute. Audio could be a little better, but that's something you can easily disregard.
Is it just me, or is this game weirdly difficult even on easy mode? I've gotten pretty good at making a good bottle of cab sav over and over, but I go bankrupt within the first three years no matter what I try.
Oh, and any game that has 30-volumes in its tutorial seems like their missing the idea of ramping up difficulty...
Overall a really nice game.
I have been reading some negative reviews about it and I wonder have we played the same game.
It's a management game about running your own vineyard and controlling most aspects of it. It's fairly original idea with fairly simple execution. Keep certain number in certain limits and you will be fine. There is some RNG involved, there are some "random" events that can be unlocked, basically it's a really nice game.
If I have to guess, I would say this is somebodies first game. There are some basic quality of life improvements, that can be implemented and the game would become 5* in no time.
Dear dev, if you are reading this, I would have a section at the end, especially for you ;)
The good:
- Original idea.
- Simple artstyle, but it's a management game. You don't need anything more.
- Engaging gameplay if you are into management games.
- A lot of extra options to unlock and discover - different soil, different barrels, different processes, it's lovely.
The bad:
- It's way too simplistic. Some things have clear one way of doing it.
- It needs some quality of life improvements.
- Some more options would be lovely. More bottle options, mixing grapes (unless I haven't unlocked it yet),
Overall, 7/10 a nice little management game.
Dear devs. There is such a thing as basic UX.
When someone presses ESC they expect the main menu to show up. It's basic stuff...
When I have a choice in game I expect each of the options to have a meaningful difference between them instead of there being a clear best option and clear worst option.
Give me more than one way to do a thing. When I want to move around the map I can't just use the mouse. It's WASD or nothing.
I would love some more random events. I've always had the same events. Having some extra would add variety and even more replay ability.
I must say I am very happy with the game. It's just some tiny little things I guess are coming from inexperience.
Good luck.
Even giving it out free is an insult!
It comes with two different installers for 32bit and 64bit version. This immediately triggers warnings to me that there are issues with even getting it to run.
As lo! That was so! NEITHER version worked for me. Just black screen, small hand shaped pointer, and music. That's are far as it gets. Then Norton 360 triggers an alert about it trying to access some "cloud.unity3d" website without your knowledge.
Looking at the reviews from others that did get it working and risked it's rather "dodgy" online activity, it ain't worth even trying to get it to run.
If you buy this, IMO, you're an idiot.
I appreciate greatly the many, many GOG free offers give out, even if they sometimes are the scrapings of the barrel, but this one, you can stick it up your arses GOG!
