From the way it's advertised and from the aesthetics you will not learn how dark and creepy this game is. E.g. in order to progress you summon more and more powerful bosses. At some point the summoning requires throwing voodoo dolls into lava. The dolls portray your friendly and innocent NPCs who die in the process. After death they are immediately replaced by same looking NPCs with different names (does it really make it less creepy or maybe more?). And where do you get the voodoo dolls? They are basically handed to you by demons (easy to kill demons just happen to fly around hell carrying voodoo dolls of your friends. wat?). You can't unlock half of the game content without black magic. I saw someone describe it as "necromancer simulator". I expected something different. I like the base concept though. Fortunately there are similar games out there.

Well, i played the Clonk Series over 20 years ago and still do. Which is most likely the best 2D sandbox game ever made. So im not easily impressed. So about Terraria.. Having to build everything in detail, is more annoying than enriching, atleast in a 2D environment. More satisfying in 3d tho. Premades would be more favorable. Building shelter with specific conditions, unbeknownst to the player, to attract NPCs is also a questionable design choice. Despite making loads of money, enough to produce pointless Merch, the devs couldnt be bothered to improve their outdated spritework and frankly terrible music. Modders are doing are far better job, unpaid no less. Melee combat is craptastic, its even more shallow than Zelda 2 from1987. And endgame combat is just a screen filling fireworks, no depth whatsoever. Randomized loot is cool tho and there is a bunch of content. TL;DR : Go play Clonk Rage, its better, its free.

I can see my friends on steam getting the achievements in the game. There are no achievements on GOG Galaxy
