Terraria

There's never. ever. EVER. a dull moment in this game. There's always something to do, some new item to craft, another boss to fight, some unique architecture to build, etc. And you're not just going from one upgrade tier to the next like in a lot of other open world crafting games. I've put hundreds of hours into this game over multiple consoles (PC version is best) and can't remember a single moment in all of that time that I ever ran out of stuff to do. It just never happens. But ultimately, and despite the absolutely insane amount of content, what makes this game worth playing is that it's just plain fun. Even when you die, it's fun. Single-player or multiplayer, it doesn't matter. This game is awesome either way. And props to the developer for updating it numerous times even after the "final" update, and for always keeping the GOG version current.

After having played that game for years I decide myself to write a review. I won't discuss my own experience with that game, that you can play and replay, sometime launch it to build a nice house or to achieve some quest to gather the appropriate weapon to kill a boss ... No, I want to discuss the experience my 2 kids have with that game. My son is 9 and my daughter 5. Both are playing that game, sometimes alone, sometimes on a local server. This game is also GREAT FOR KIDS They like building nice houses. Adding chairs, tables, seeing people arriving. They can buy extra furnishing, create restaurants, hotels, water parks (yes, they did !) This is like playing Lego, but on the computer. And you don't hurt yourself walking on :D The more complex mechanisms (around triggers) are also very nice for bigger kids that will find some part of "incredible machine" ( ;) ) to build. As they can play together, my son often helps his sister. He gave her many weapons so she doesn't get killed (even if she knows how to trigger the god mode) Yes, even at 5 a kid can enjoy this game, free rabbits on islands and buy a funny ball "to go to play on the beach". This game helped us, during the confinement, to have over-a-country family entertainment with other family members. All together on a server we were having tourism, and had much fun sharing those moments. I will never thanks enough Re-Logic for that game. Thank you guys for this time passed building that incredible game. You are bringing much joy to much people !!

Terraria is a very fun game, lots of content too, if a bit grindy. worth a buy on GOG. know that crossplay multiplayer is possible, including with steam, but it will take some work. not as simple as click and go, but its worth the tradeoff. WARNING on installation, the progress bar might halt and get stuck. DON'T freak out! if that happens to you, try redoing the installation, wait until it gets stuck, and go to the GOG terraria folder, keep the installer open. Inside the GOG terraria folder, look for the 'redistributables' , I think something like 'XNA, refresh' in that folder you'll need to install it to make the progress bar continue. hope this aids you

Not going to write too much since there are tons of reviews out there but I have been playing games for a long time and I am very picky when it comes to quality, depth, soul and complexity (in a good way). This game will give you 100's if not 1000's of hours of fun because it has such a wealth of things to do and a wealth of gear. It is a game that sticks out from the rest for sure and it was just updated to 1.4 updating an already amazing game to new heights. Its cheap price means its a no brainer if you want a quality game. It looks kinda childish but dont be fooled. It has depth and does not feel tacky or cheap in any way. The music in this game is incredible and helps giving the game its soul. Its one of those games you will be nostalgic about in the future. 5/5 because you cant really do any better. Its simply a top tier game.

I've originally played this game on Steam (250 hours playtime) but bought it again on GOG because I am a big fan, and agree with some of the other reviewers here that it's worth at least twice its price. Since there are many elaborate 5-star reviews already, I'll keep this one short. This is clearly a game that was made with love by their developers, and has been improved further over many years. It still receives free updates (including content updates) and has an active modding scene. Therefore, it has become even greater than it already was when the first 5-star reviews here were written. I can recommend this game as a clear buy. :-)
