Description
You are about to enter a fantasy quite unlike anything you've ever seen or felt before - a fantasy built from the stuff of your very own mind. Tender Loving Care is not just a finely crafted suspense story; it's an exploration into your innermost perceptions, opinions, and attitudes. The unfolding story is shaped and changed by your responses to it, so that no two people will experience Tender Loving Care in exactly the same way.

Starring the acclaimed British actor, and 2-time Oscar nominee, John Hurt (Contact, Love and Death on Long Island, Elephant Man) TLC is a feature-length film seamlessly combined with computer-game like navigation and interactivity.

The player is voyeur, detective, judge, and patient all in one. Between each variable scene, Dr. Turner enlists the viewer's help in assessing the behaviour of each of the films characters - Turner's beautiful, deluded patient, her dangerous husband, and the mysterious, seductive psychiatric nurse enlisted to provide what may, or may not be, TENDER LOVING CARE.

The viewer's answers to Dr. Turner questions the shape the course of the action and the final outcome of the story. The viewer, too, becomes one of Dr. Turner's patients, taking a series of Thematic Apperception Tests (TATs), the results of which create a progressively accumulating personal psychological profile.

Memorable

I think this game should be played for educational purposes in universities. The amount of reflections in human nature and artistic visions are enough to expand the perspectives of anyone. The game also attempts to convey knowledge about our limitations and dreams. The acting and casting is great and appropriate for a fictional story very much like a late night movie, with erotic women and passions. The eroticism illustrated is effective and shameless. Sensuality and sexuality are big focus this game talks about, from an arousing, psychological and artistic perspective, which makes it the greatest piece of content that I know of to educate prudes so they realize how mentally limited they are. I felt like my decisions didn't influence the story the way I expected, but still I liked it, because the outcome seemed logical. I just think the "psychiatric nurse" had it worst and unfair. 1 Star less because the game keeps getting stuck after a while, so you have to constantly save and re-open the game. The game was much better than I expected. I want to play it again many years from now.

Fun, but not amazing.

Definitely an interesting 80s thriller to play through, and with lots of love put in, if you like walking around and looking at interesting things. But I was unable to see my final psychoanalysis on the test - if there even is one - and if you don't want to read a lot, there's simply no reason for it. Also not a clear connection between the quiz questions and your answers. As a fan of psychology, I just didn't learn as much from this as I had hoped. But it was engaging!

Very Enjoyable FMV Game

I enjoy interactive movie type games for the most part and Tender Loving Care seemed like it would be a good fit. While it didn’t deliver everything I had hoped it was a solid “game”. The plot was quite good up until the end and the inbetween bits where you’re answering questions for Dr. Turner were enetrtaining and thought provoking. I found the end kind of came out of nowhere with little buildup but then again sometimes violent situations do come out of nowhere so maybe I should see it as realistic. I was also disappointed that all of the answers I gave in between weren’t touched on at the end of the game. There are 7 endings to the game and which you receive is influenced by your answers so it’s not like they didn’t have an effect but maybe having a clue as to how you ened up at that ending would have been nice. Not everything needs to be spelled out though so it’s not a big deal in the end. I still enjoyed the story. I do wish that more of an explanation was given about the menu options and save system as I had to do some trial and error to figure it all out. I played TLC on Linux. I used PlayOnLinux as there is no native version for Linux. Initially there is no video when beginning a game but after adding "--disable-gpu" to the launch options fixed that. I had no crashes at all, no glitches or bugs aside from the initial issue. I used PlayOnLinux version 4.3.4 and game version 1.0(12852) from GOG. I paid $6.47 CAD for TLC and it was easily worth that price, I would have even paid up to $15 CAD for it. I would recommend Tender Loving Care to anyone who enjoys FMV games such as The Bunker, The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker or even other interactive movie type games such as the Telltale Games. My Score: 8/10 My System: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 18.3.3 | Manjaro Mate | Kernel 4.20.11-1-MANJARO

it's merely a story, take it as that

It's most likely _not_ unlike anything you've ever seen or felt before. But, yes, your answers influence what movie you get. you'll see what you want to see = the movie will proof you "right" even if you'd prefer it to proof you wrong = predictabile outcome (not in it's detail, but overall) = forget the psychoanalysis, unless for fun (also, there's barely any profile of the player) "it's an exploration into your innermost perceptions..." It's more like a questionnaire that is just for fun and a movie attached to it. This version does not have the promised large psychological profile and you'll have to check for the small bits you can find in between video sections. "TLC is a feature-length film" for the most part and "game like navigation" means point and click for short movement clips and then reading a diary/book/documents on computers and dialing phone numbers or listening to the radio for more insight into the film characters. voyeur - yes detective - reading and listening (not about piecing anything together to solve anything) judge - you get asked for your opinion on movie characters patient - the questionnarie or TATs in between movie sections which influences the movie During my first "play through", I gave up on the detective part in the second half or last third of the "game". I tried a few more times (rushing through almost everything) just to see if different answers provide a different outcome and yes, they do.
