a good game, but it has so many problems

tangledeep gives of a good first impression, i really like the musik and the pixel art, but the longer i play it, the more little problems i find and the more they pile up. the worst thing about it is, that theses problems seem easily avoidable and that the game seems, like it could have been way better, with just a few changes. the games target audience seems to be casual gamers and roguelike/rpg beginners for what feels like more than 90% of the time, but then you meet the occasional op enemy, or even a bunch of them. when i die in tangledeep, it allmost never feels like it's my fault, which makes losing a charakter, that i invested multiple hours in, even more frustrating. in other roguelikes dying teases you to play another round, in tangledeep dying makes me want to stop playing and this isn't the only reason, why i often just end the game. tangledeep seems comlpex to learn at first, but the game quickly seems, like you're not even supposed to learn that much, like you're just supposed to play and ignore most of the numbers. the game might as well not even have visible numbers, because it doesn't really tell you what they do anyway. this also makes leveling up, or finding new equipment really unsatisfying really quick, because why are you supposed to be happy about a higher number, when you don't even know, what it does? too much of the info to understand this game, is not included in the game and i really don't like having to look things up in a wiki. pets, the dreamcaster and trees mostly seem to exist for players, that die a lot, but how are you supposed to know that as a player? pets level up with the players xp, so you have to catch one close to your level, or it's worthless, until you die and start over, because it doesn't get any xp from same level monsters and dies too quickly from stronger monsters. there is so much more to complain about, but after all, i'd still recommend playing the game, you should just know, what you're getting into...

Too "inspired' by Final Fantasy Tactics

TL,DR: The final boss is a fight between Elixirs, not player skill. The boss almost entirely removes any advantage 3 Classes rely on and is a slap to the face for anyone wanting a fair fight. TangleDeep does several things correctly in the Rogue-Like genre. The majority of enemies are fair and don't rely on gimmicks to beat. Enemies continuously spawn on the floor you're on, allowing for safe farming. Each Class has a specific method to beat enemies and the skills compliment that task very well (Such as the Brigand's heavy reliance on using Smoke Bomb to avoid damage while setting up Critical Strike combos.) Where it fails is long term progression completely ends by the time you've reached the 8th floor out of 20. The big selling point of the Class system is the ability to take skills from other classes and mix them with your current class. However, very few Classes gain a significant boost from each other aside from the obvious ones like the Monk's ability to avoid being stunned or take a critical hit. I'm still struggling to see a point when the Sword Dancer is useful to any Class...including it's own Class. Equipment becomes a bigger problem when you have very few item types to find. Most classes have about 6 tiers of weapon progression and 5 tiers of armor. This means a good chunk of your success is reliant on grinding for loot instead of reaching equipment thresholds in traditional RPGs. To make matters worse, all weapon and armor tiers are eligible to drop on every floor, meaning you have way more grinding to get top tier gear than you should, let alone get decent mods on them. I liked the game overall, but the process you need to complete the final boss is annoying and lazy. It kind of ruins the game. The boss will do around 300 damage and ignore Parry stats, making several classes worthless. I can only recommend the game when on sale for around $5. The DLC is not worth getting because it adds little to the core game. Many mechanics were an afterthought.

Nice game, riddled with lots of bugs

The game itself would be a really nice game with beautiful music and interesting tactical combat. However I cannot recommend it, because of frequent crashes when trying to change the area. The game sometimes even crashes when idling. Result of these crashers is the loss of progress since the last town-visit (or save). Two of these crashes even corrupted the savegame, forcing me to restart from scratch. The game is still far too unstable ... which is a shame, it has a lot of potential.

Nice Simple Dungeon Game

Brings back memories of old school dungeon crawlers. Music is good, controls are simple and easily changed. Had fun beating it over the weekend as a Hunter. Would have given it 5 starts however on the last level, game kept freezing until I realized the speech windows weren't appearing but the selection to continue text was still in effect. Had to blindly choose options until I stumbled on the exit one. Had that issue during the entire end game. Couldn't even find out the big climax of the story :(

Wow! Blown away!

Im a rougelike rookie, so Ive never really played a game like this before. But oh my god Im having alot of fun with it. It reminds me of playing zelda, final fantasy and metroid when i was a kid. The graphics and music are just spot on for this style. And so far this game seems really deep, lots of cool characters to play, and tons of gear, pets system that you can breed, and gear you can customize and things to grow. Its got alot going on and its just alot of fun all around. Ive been playing it for about the past 10 hours straight. Great work on this one. I'd reccomend this to anyone who grew up with a super nintendo.
