So much fun!

This expertly made platformer is not only technically excellent, but oozes style. The platforming is unique and extremely fun, the puzzles are not difficult but they're not supposed to be because the pacing is just right, the introduction of abilities for your blob is timed perfectly, and it is quite challenging to 100%, but not impossible like some platformers tend to be. On top of that, it has that intangible quality to it that just makes it such joy to play. The humor, music, animation are just fantastic, this was the only game I played until I finished it because I just had so much fun!

Smart, fun, and funny puzzle platformer.

Got this free with the Guacamelee and I thought this was an appetizer to the main course but it's a solid game in its own right. The graphics are crisp, the music is this kind of circus-y horrorshow music, and most importantly the gameplay is solid. The levels are smart. Very easy at first and more challenging as you go on but never more than a 7 in a 1-10 scale. You may get stuck here and there but after looking around for a bit you'll have it figured out. The game can take you about 3-5+ hours to beat depending if you're looking everywhere your first time through or not...but I can easily see myself going through it again and trying to improve my scores/times. This is one of those kind of games. If I have any beef with this game it's my same gripe with Guacamelee it's that out of my different gamepads I own ONLY my Xbox controller for window was the only one that worked. It was just plug and play. My others are Logitechs. It's sad that you can't use any controller and just assign your buttons. It seems like a little thing to make this game more accessible. Unlike Guacamelee, this game is reasonably playable with a mouse and keyboard. However, the gamepad is certainly much better and is still recommended. It was a nice treat to enjoy something I hadn't heard of before. The deduction of 1 star was for my controller gripe. Otherwise I had lots of fun so I recommend it.

Well worth it's price.

Haven't finished the game yet, but based on what I've experienced with it so far I believe I can safely say that it is a great puzzle-platformer. I'm personally rather bored of the "retro-imitation" trend among indie platformers, but I've found that this games has a great deal of charm and character, while also being moderately challenging without overtaxing one's brain, and thus it is perfect for relaxing in the evening after a hard day's work for example. The art style and the music is great for the theme of the game, the visuals are really crisp, plus I like the "telly frame" effect, which adds to the 50's B-movie humor to the game. I'd say that the puzzle/platforming elements are quite standard, so if you've played some similar games you might find this one a bit boring, although the humorous presentation could make up for that. I'd recommend this for anyone, really, who doesn't mind a bit of silliness in their games.

Great B-Movie fun

An all round excellent game with one glaring weakness: naff controls. I played it with a 360 pad and when you don't have to move fast everything is okay, but when you need some speed, which is quite often, poor integration means anything tricky will probably have you going back to the last save point when you repeatedly get squashed, electrocuted or blown up. Otherwise the game can't be faulted. Great graphics, good music, enough variety to stop it getting bogged down and a zany sense of humour that very nearly makes up for the aforementioned shortcomings.

Awesome!

Picked this up in a bundle with Guacamelee and a few others. It is a complete hoot. Interesting physics, fun graphics and sound, great sense of humor. Puzzles are challenging but never frustrating. I never review games online but I am decloaking long enough to give this one two thumbs up.
