Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

Games seemed great from the intro of the Demo alone and videos online but - like the Steam Demo of this game does - the game crashes at the start if you don't allow Internet access. Example of other game that uses the same game engine and does the same (only on Steam): Ardenfall (Demo as of writing). Will update review once/if this gets addressed.

30% Dark Messiah + 60% Skyrim + 10% Dark Souls, but different and original at the same time with nicely crafted world.

As someone who’s played Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, I’m always searching for RPGs that capture that same sense of freedom and adventure. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is the first game in years to truly deliver a “Scrollslike” experience while still feeling fresh and unique. The open world is massive and atmospheric, filled with secrets, quests, and meaningful choices. The Arthurian-inspired setting is dark and intriguing, and the world feels reactive to your actions. What really stands out is the open class system—you’re never locked into a single playstyle. Whether you want to be a sword-and-board tank, dual dagger rogue, magic shield user, or some hybrid, the game makes it easy to experiment and refine your build as you go. Difficulty is fully customizable. You can make the game as easy as you want, turning it into a walking simulator, or crank up the challenge to a level that would make Dark Souls blush. This flexibility means anyone can enjoy the game, regardless of skill level. Tainted Grail isn’t just a clone—it introduces new mechanics like the Wyrdness, which changes the world at night, and deepens the experience with crafting, mining, and even household management. The story is mature and woven into every part of the world, making every choice feel important. All in all, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is one of the best RPGs I’ve played in years. It’s packed with fresh ideas, yet clearly made by a team that loves and understands the genre. If you’re a fan of Elder Scrolls and want a new adventure, this game absolutely delivers.

After 26h of gameplay, I can say that it's great! Especialy if you're the kind of player who goes searching every cm/inch of the map before even bother to do the mainquest. I've read a lot of topics concerning "glitches" and "freeze" to "bugs", however I must say I've never had any problems (thus far!) Playing as a "Mage"/"Archer" type myself, I find the lack of abilities within the "Spirituality" tree a (kind of) let down... Escpecialy since I only found the "raise skeleton" spell right now and not using it. The lack of different weapons of the "Bow" type is also "meh!" (So far 3 different)... The factions/clan system is a nice incorporation, seeing as some may appear to support one-an-other but will stab each other in the back once that's no longer the case. Result: interesting dialogues! Definitly worth the try and I'm curious to see what the future will bring for this game! ++ Some quests need the use of your brains and aren't always "answer in hand" types!! Watch out for the Black cloud...

It is skyrim with better combat. Elden Rings with everything you love about Skyrim. I do recommend it higly.
