A quite Oblivionesque Experience

Game is overall good. The little things that the game does bad are muddling the experience. Some Questitems that are readable wont be automatically gathered, so you will end up being locked in Dialogs. The Map has no abillity to set permanent markers. And you cant visit some places in post game, so atleast create a save before doin the obvious last quest.

good indie game

The game itself may not be as polished and expansive as Triple A Skyrim but for an indei open world game it is good

Superb. Arx Fatalis, Gothic Vibes

Tried the demo on Steam and was hooked. The game is a pleasant surprise. It reminds me of Arx Fatalis. Tons of detail, a little rough around the edges. The world is definitely dark fantasy which is an awesome setting. I personally think that is why I enjoy the game so much. Outside of souls like games there aren't a ton of dark fantasy games. The world draws you in. There is so much to explore and get lost wandering around. The story is interesting and lots of the side quests are pretty decent and have self contained events that you want to see play out. Combat is fun. I like the relatively forgiving parry timing. I love how your skills constantly work so the more you do something like running or sneaking, those skills increase. I have always enjoyed the more realistic approach. In addtion there are multiple skill trees that give you a wide degree to level and grow your character that way you want. Music is stellar. Visuals are OK. Nothing top notch but there are some nice environments. Characters look decent. Lots of people are saying it is like Skyrim. These types of games existed long before that. IMO Arx Fatalis and the original Gothic games are good comparators. Highly, higly recommend trying the demo on Steam. It gives you a really good sample to try. I took my time and explored the initial areas as much as possible and knew I would enjoy the full game. Keep in mind this is NOT a AAA game. It is an absolutely aweomse AA game that easily holds it's own against similar types. Easily recommend this at full price and most definitely at sale pricing. FYI: Saves from the Steam demo work with the GoG version.

no idea why this has such a high rating

The game is in early access, ok, But what is delivered here is barely an alpha. Also the devs had roughly 1,5 years of time to patch the glaring deficiencies, but the result? Sadly, almost nothing. Instead of tackling problems, they just flush out more of the same. To name just a few: # terrible performance even on the recommended hardware even when lowering the settings, it's highly subpar, especially when looking at the quite dated graphics. Vanilla Skyrim looks often better and almost always more atmospheric. # bugs rarely had a game where crashes/freezes were that common. As advised by others lowering the graphics to minimum helped, a bit. Still quite a lot crashes, and the game looks like early 2000s now. Add the very poorly made animations, where often enemies slide over the ground (too slow or wrong animation), the buggy lighting with torches, etc, and one really has to ponder if this is an unfunny prank. # the quest/story design "go there, fetch that, defeat x" ... MMO-grade. Few quests try to do better but still feel blunt n clumsy. # the "balancing" If you can call it that... archery is OP as heck, summoning pretty much completely useless, and weapon difference within a category way to small, etc. For example: even the strongest summon, with all health perks, is a 1shot for simple bandits. On the other hand, a lightning spell, that is AoE 1shots packs of almost every enemy. And no, this is no expensive super-spell. TBH this would be solid 1 stars for me... why 2 stars? Because at least some of themost basic concepts are interesting. For example, that the player can go to a cemetery and defeat a necromancer and in the end can make use of his research by looting a spell book/scroll from them, and so receive a completely new gameplay element with the ability to summon skeletons. Sadly that's where any goodness ends, because how it was implemented and balanced, ruines it all once again. Would like to be more detailed, but the message limit prevents it.

Great game not $80 must buy

this game is a love letter to ppl who like elderscrolls or Dark Massiah. I supporting this to make sure we see a 2 of it or some DLC. combat is best I have see in a long time but I do wish there was more quest like in skyrim the state of the world limited the kind of quest you can get but thats tiny issue and I still playing so maybe I wrong about that. but pls support. Game is great.
