Been trying to get around everything to get this game to work. I tried disabling UAC, BitDefender, and even tried importing the classic version files into the res folder ( because maybe the data files were corrupt), and nothing. Not even a screen. I click it, and nothing the play button goes grey, and then it goes back to green without ever bringing up a box or starting sshock.exe in the task manager. I tried running as administrator but nothing. running in xpsp3,vista,7,8...nothing worked. Tried looking up a fix, and there are no fixes as of yet. Obviously, when this does get fixed I'll re view it but simply put. don't put it works on windows 10 if it doesn't/
Even though this is largely similar to the version presented by fans, System Shock Portable it is not: there's more configurability in SSP but Enhanced has better handled resolution modes.
That said... the elephant in the room. The minimum specs. Somehow or another, this old game that was perfectly runnable on DOSBox has much higher requirements than System Shock 2. I don't know what to blame here, but it's painfully obvious that this shouldn't be happening. Lazy cashgrab porting perhaps, who knows?
This is System Shock portable. A free download that used to be available, "enhanced" by dedicated programmers who worked on the code for years! Some deep dealings have been done between GOG and some nefarious company to "raid" this up until now free "enhanced" version and make money from it. Shame on you GOG. You may be legally in the clear, but morally it sucks! This is not you GOG and I am shocked! (pun intended!)
