System Shock® 2 (1999)

First time playing this game, so no nostalgia. Honestly I can see wht ppl might not like it, you can get lost if you ain't paying attention & have to actually figure stuff out on your own. But I had a blast, even did multiple runs, whole thing felt like an adventure that allows the player to experiment all they want. The setting, the characters, the enemies everything felt crafted with care. There were some balance issues with the weapons, like how all energy guns are basically worthless or the very high requierements for the mid exotic weapons. Some skills are also & perks are also useless. Like the repair skill or that perk that gives you +2 only when hacking computers lmao. The PSI powers were very fun to use too. But, yeah, only reason this isn't a 5/5 is because of the many noob traps it has regarding skills, perks & weapons.

Just thought id write this quickly, as I was looking for info regarding compatibility with new macbook pro's & the latest OSx (10.8.4) & couldn't find any. Runs great on a mid 2012 MBP running 10.8.4 running full native 1680x1050 & 1920x1080 via external monitor. Obviously my machine is well above the recommended stats, however sometimes these older games have trouble with newer mac Os. Very happy to say its every bit as awesome as it was 10+ years ago! And the added bonus content makes this package worth every dollar..The Ken Levine interview & original Soundtrack was of particular interest..for less than the cost of a BigMac meal ($5.00). This is seriously great value for money, & a legitimate sci-fi survival horror classic!

This game has amazed me with its awesome story and game play. while it begins a little slow and there are a couple of extremely challenging parts in the beginning the game ramps up and makes you feel much more badass as you get farther along. I will be honest in saying that i played all the bioshock series before i went back and played system shock. It is obvious where the inspiration for the bioshock series came from in this game but also how much this game stands out on its own. The sheer diversity of character building and stronger RPG elements makes this game a must play for anyone who loves bioshock or solid RPG's

My compliments to the whomever created the PDF manual. It is _not_ just a pixel scan of the manual. (Those are awful). It is a high quality PDF. The text is even selectable (mentioned to vouch for the quality, not to encourage plagiarism). Considering how old the game is, I appreciate that someone took the time to provide this quality.

It's on my top 5 list. Legendary.
