Syberia: The World Before - Digital Deluxe Edition

A Syberia game, how I expect it to be. Touching story, interesting characters and a beautiful world. Although graphics are slightly outdated, you can clearly see that the devs put a lot of love into it and together with sounddesign, music and general composition of the scenes it makes the game a real stunner. You just want to sit around, watch the scenery and listen to the music. I played through the game twice and didn't come across any bugs or gliches. 4.6 Stars, because the controls got in my way from time to time and the puzzles are usually rather simple. There is only autosafe and also, if you do a second run to get all the achievements, you cannot skip cutscenes, which can get really annoying. All in all, I recommend the game to anyone who loves games with good story and a great atmosphere.

After the very disappointing third part, this sequel shines again. Solid puzzles, good narrative, good voice acting. Can't say much about the story without spoiling it. The controls work fine (other than in the previous game), but not all weaknesses have been eliminated. For example the hotspots are still quite small. If there is a large object, you can't just click anywhere on it. Instead, once you hover the mouse over it, the hotspot will appear, where you need to click the object. This can become annoying if the object is only partially visible on screen and the hotspot is offscreen. In that case you need to move the camera before you can see that the object is clickable. Also - again - the voice of Kate Walker sounds very different from all the voices, as if it was recorded with some smartphone or voice recorder. Why isn't it possible to get the voice actress to the same studio as the others or at least send her a decent micropone? Sokal's adventures have their own style and this game follows their spirit. If you liked the first two parts, you will also like this one and probably dislike it if you didn't like them.

We all know the third installment was a huge letdown. I have just finished playing this title and I'm so glad this franchise got back on track and I'm looking forward for another sequel I will gladly give my money for. Great music, nice story. It is such a pleasure following Kate through her journey, travelling across beautiful landscapes and towns. She is so calm and collected; her voice, so relaxing, and the game itself will reward you with the same feeling by playing it. We need more dopamine free and story driven games like this. Once again... the music... beautiful. This is Syberia, once again!

Out of all the Syberia games this one looks the best and plays the best and has the most engaging story. The game's puzzles are kind of easy, but I see that as an improvement over some of the more weird and convoluted puzzles of the previous games that weren't particularly fun or interesting and only slowed down the story. The story has everything the previous games had, with the nature and civilization and mysterious creatures, but this time it shifts focus a bit different way with the historical storyline and allusions. The characters are great, voice acting great, and the story also great. Even if you can sometimes safely guess where it's gonna go, it's portrayed in an enjoyable way. Too bad there probably won't be a final sequel or something. And it's interesting to click on everything and explore even the elements that obviously won't help you progress. Also the music in this game is probably the best in the series too. And on the technical level the game works waaay better than the previous one. No weird camera glitching, character models and environments look great and the lighting doesn't get funky. The character movement also doesn't get weird when running into objects either. Much better gameplay experience than Syberia 3

I didn't think it was possible to top the earlier games, but this game manages to do it effortesly. Not only does it continue the spirit of the first two, but it also brings a whole new layer to the infamous third game. I played this game knowing the creator had died before its release, and even though death is prominent in this game, I will remember it for the author's sense of beauty and love of life. If you love this type of game, this is a no brainer
