A meteor strike has brought an end to civilization as we know it. Humanity is on the brink of extinction. However, after years of uncertainty, sudden climate changes, extreme temperatures and other catastrophes, conditions seem to improve to a point that it is possible to explore and re-populate this post-apocalyptic Earth.
Build a settlement as a safe haven and new home for you and other survivors. Leverage their strengths and abilities for the greater good. For only as a close-knit community will you be able to overcome these harsh new times where rivaling factions fight for supremacy and can rebuild society against seemingly overwhelming odds.
Discover an open world full of dangers, secrets and valuable artifacts. But don’t get fooled by the sometimes tranquil environment and the beautiful scenery. Get distracted and both human enemies as well as wildlife or even nature itself will make sure that this is the last thing you’ll ever see. And be warned: The meteor left more than just a crater when it hit Earth. Are you brave enough to unearth the truth?
You are not alone. Manage your followers, optimize their equipment and make sure that they stay healthy and in top condition. Take them with you on expeditions, fight and loot together as an unstoppable team of three or give them jobs in your base. The choice is yours. But remember: Who fights alone, dies alone!
There is more than one way to survive. Try to sneak your way out of dangerous situations, disarm traps, try to set up stealthy ambushes or choose open combat, where you can issue commands to your team anytime. Keep in mind, however, that ammo is as limited as medicine and every companion returning to the camp is another step closer to surviving. Pick your strategy wisely.
Create, maintain and enhance a settlement with over 30 facilities like farms, kitchens, research labs and shelters. Attract other survivors, leverage their strengths, utilize their abilities and unlock new technologies in the extensive techtree. Manage your resources and make sure that everybody’s needs are satisfied. Only a good leader will win the respect of their followers.
Although forever changed, your environment is still rich in resources - and full of valuable remnants and artifacts of a fallen civilization. Gather them on your expeditions to ensure your survival both in the field as well as in your settlement. Craft weapons and items or utilize your environment to fight hunger, cold or enemies: For every dangerous situation there is a solution. Make sure you live to see another day.

I was looking forward for this game since a long time. And now it was released, i bought it and had to discover, that it still full of bugs. Companions are quite often not following you, because they are blocked somewhere, where they are able to get out without help. I try to build a building, click on the worker to build it, and the resources vanish, but the worker does not the job. The last straw was, when i gave the order and the worker appeared stuck in an non-accessable area of the map....
The game is still beta, the basics work, but at the moment you are not able to enjoy it.
This is two games for the price of one, meaning the budget and effort that would have made at least one of them good went instead into making two little bundles of unfinished buggy mess. So it's another poorly executed great concept that would have benefited from a couple more years in the oven, which is very unfortunate because I was looking forward to it since it was announced. As it stands, I'm more dissapointed than sad and still hoping to see if in a few more years it's worth playing.
glitches: unopenable boxes, unfinishable quests, NPC dialog extremely limited, no camp dialoge, fixed party dialouge, limited tech tree based on availability of RP, no character skills/ability development. Despite all this still a fun engaging game but with limited replayability due to ABC ending
64 hours. Felt sometimes a bit reprtitive (go look for that one component missing to upgrade a pickaxe)
I did find the gameplay compelling, the story is ok and endings fine.
