Description
This remastered version of SuperPower 2 features:
- New internet matchmaking library, and modified UI flow in the multiplayer menus
- Updated code to support new OS
- Widescreen Resolution support
SuperPower 2 is the only global geopolitical simulation game which allows players to control entire countries. Players control countries in 3 major areas: political, economic and military, but this time, in a beautiful real-time 3D environment. Players build up their own countries and increase their influence in the broader world while competing against sophisticated A.I. Along the way, gamers make use of economic sanctions, political alliances, and military actions to wage their battles. SuperPower 2 offers the ability to fine-tune each country's performance, from creating or breaking treaties, to making tactical decisions in particular military conflicts.
193 real countries all playable & equipped with realistic data drawn from the CIA World Factbook, the United Nations and U.S. Military databases.
Sophisticated A.I. designed to realistically simulate each country.
Real-life combat situations, with multiple forces joining and leaving battles as the balance of power shifts.
Real-time gameplay and Modular units building.
Solo scenarios and "sandbox mode", as well as full Multiplayer support for up to 32 players in a variety of styles, including world domination, economic master, and many others

While I don't own the game, I have played it myself, and it's nothing short of modern-day art. And yes, it has bugs and is geographically out of date, but the game came out in 2004. No other modern world RTS can top it.
I played this when it first came out and it was a fun game to mess around with but this version of it is completely broken and does not work properly. Units will not move where you want them to and the game often crashes when trying to put units into park status or vise versa. The fact is that no one has been able to get this game to work properly on windows 11 and it might be time to just give it up.
I have tried the steam version of this game and could not even get that version to start so when I downloaded this from gog and it actually started I was hopeful untill I tried messing around with the units.
I've asked for a refund on this and will no longer try with this game, it's not worth the effort.
The game window is having problems, it, seems to be playing on someone's account, I don't know, it opens two windows, the game doesn't work properly with its window open. I had high expectations for playing Superpower 2, but, the game window has issues.
Looks interesting but the interface is really not up to what is done nowadays by Paradox Games, so it is hard to overcome. To clear, it is a bit like playing Dune 2000 after playing Starcraft.
So I had the original SuperPower years ago and enjoyed that, so couldn't resist givign this a try. Had the same kind of fun conquering the Middle East, then hit a bug that basically broke the game.
For some reason I forgot to invade Kuwait on my march through the sands. Aiming to correct that oversight, I promptly sent my troops and no sooner did they arrive, for some reason the game reverted to the opening start menu of the game, same as when you first load it up. The move troops icon was still there too. Loaded my last autosave, proceeded to invade Kuwait again, same outcome. A bug loop that can't be rectified and is effectively "GAME OVER" for that save.
Such a shame, as I could live with the occasional crash to desktop I encountered here and there. It's an old game, of course, but when ancient Kuwaiti bugs like this hit, well, it's time to uninstall and forget about it.
