The game was made by people who really enjoyed the old Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle) games as the game is filled with references to the old games, homage remake like levels and the animation/artwork is amazing to look at.
The game also has the original music of SoR 2 if you want to use the old music and in the options you can change over the controller buttons to be Xbox, PS or Switch buttons. Devs should really take a note from this option and put it into more games.
If you are a fan of the old Streets of Rage games, like beat'em up games or just want to support something made with actual passion then I hope you will consider getting this game.
I love the animation style. Feels right. I love the combos. The game feels fluid. The developers who made this obviously love the original SOR games. The music is like all music these days, forgettable. Can't wait for 4 person co-op. Single player is harder than the orginals. Worth $20-25.
First off, If your on the fence about buying this game, I can honestly say this is a perfect continuation of the series. The story is super cheesy with its "B" action movie story. The characters all feel great and the difficulty is just how I remember from back in the day.
Gameplay: The enemies are super annoying and cheap as they should be. Bosses will lame you out and ignore hit stun which is awesome. This game was made to eat your "quarters" as it should be.
Controls: The game is very responsive and the controls are nice a tight.
Music: I was super worried at first that the music wouldn't be that great. However, so far In my play threw which is up to lvl 4 the music has all been great.

Now for the more tech side of things.
The game does support controllers. I've used both a PS4 controller and a Arcade Stick. Both work with no lag or issues at all. Also you can go into the options and set which button icons you want aka Xbox or PS which is nice.
No Online: Currently there isn't any online modes. Not a deal breaker for me but has to be mentioned.
Leader Boards: Currently the only leader boards are from your friends list. Again not a deal breaker for me but might be for some.

Final thoughts
For me this game is more than nostalgia bait its a squeal that I didn't know I needed.I loved the SoR games and Beat'em'Up's in general. If you like this game type this game is a must buy. The game is an easy 5/5 but since this version currently is missing the online features I'm giving it a 4/5. The reason I'm taking off only 1 star from the score is due to the fact that I wouldn't have used the online features anyway.
This may be the best beat-em up game ever made. It looks really good, has decent music, multiplayer, runs great on Linux, and has combat that is actually kind of deep. The DLC for this game is worth it if you like the game. It raises the unique playable characters to 8 that do feel different, a training mode, and a survival mode.
If you've ever enjoyed a beat-em up game I think you will appreciate this game. It does it really well.
