Worth it
Overlord is solid. It adds a ton of new stuff, a much needed overhaul to the vassalization mechanic, fun (and very imbalanced) new origins, new events, such as leviathan triumphs (which should have been noted as a selling point for the DLC, I for one was pleasantly surprised I get more stuff from defeating a leviathan). Mercenary enclaves are an awesome way to recycle outdated fleets. Nothing like your old corvettes and destroyers bringing you constant profits instead of simply getting scrapped midgame. And you can finally kick federation members out and only have a fed with just you and your vassals. Now the bad. The UI is now overcrowded. Took me like 5 minutes to find the agreements tab (second tab of contacts. You are welcome, just saved you 5 minutes lol.) . The hive progenitor origin adds more micro to an empire that is already very micro intensive. Sorry, couldn't take the micro hell. Seriously, progenitor ships should have been replaced with admirals with a cap to the number of admirals you can have. Awesome idea, but the implementation killed the fun for me. Diplomacy is... OP? I managed to triple my territory by vassalizing and integrating my biggest neighbor over the course of 20 ingame years for the low price of 15% of my total economy. Zero shots were fired. I feel like I should not be able to do that. Some new technologies come too late IMO. Does not make them less useful, just kind of made me ponder why isn't this a lower tier tech. Overall, 5 stars. Brought new life to a game that was getting a tiny bit boring.
