This game has so much depth that I find myself coming back to it over and overagain. The dlcs add new and interesting mechanics to the game! Even if you just get the base game, there is still a lot to enjoy!
I thoroughly enjoy the game. However since the recent updates, trying to use mods has been utterly abysmal. Ive got a mod list that "works", in that i can play the game without crashing, however i discover many things that dont work over the course of a session and end up trying to find the broken mod, removing it/replacing it, and starting a new game.
Otherwise the game is epic, i have all dlcs and its just a great time sink and fun to make new empire ideas.
There are a lot of criticisms that can be made against this game, and most of those are very valid points, especially with the release of the extremely buggy 4.0 that was recently released. Despite this, Stellaris remains one of the most popular and in my opinion one of the best space strategy games out there. The dev team is clearly passionate about this game and there are constant updates to improve and freshen the game, and with the sheer amount of content and options in this game it is practically limitlessly replayable. Even if it's been a while since you've last played, you can just jump back in and start to rediscover the game, and within 15 minutes you're fully immersed in the game. I find it to be the type of game that you have to play to understand how fun it is, as watching it be played really doesn't do it justice. Even then, it's still not everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy roleplay, strategy games or just space even the slightest bit, I think this game is worth trying. There's so many options that every person who I have shown this game to has found at least one thing that interested them. And while the large number of DLCs may seem intimidating, they are not necessary to enjoy the game, and it means you can tailor the game to the parts of it that you find interesting. The fact that they are not part of the base game is probably the worst thing about stellaris, but provided you can buy them on sale and enjoy playing the game, you will find them well worth the money:time ratio. As a game that is planned to continue to be worked on for a long time to come, it will have its ups and downs with good updates and bad updates, but in the end it will end up with a better system than the one before, and not many games can say they have had or will have support for such a long time. So despite its flaws, I highly recommend Stellaris as a classic that will only continue to get better
10/10 recommend, perfect game to pick up when you have nothing to do or for large sessions with friends. Creativity, randomness, its all there. No two games are the same
I was playing last night and auto save settings were default. I tried to save the game before I got off for the night. However, the game told me there were too many saves for the session. I tried to delete some of the saves but the game would not let me. Now I have lost progress and I will not play again because I don't know if I load game back up if it will start saving again.
