Good break between bigger titles

Recently I felt a bit down and tired and didn't want to play anything harder or major. Steel Rats was a game I came hit by accident and it turned out to be a bull's eye. Steel Rats is a suprisingly fresh, 2,5D action platform game with just a small bit of RPG style development. It's typicall easy-to-learn and hard to master game, with really good, intuitive control. Although it is designed to play with a pad, I used a keyboard and with slight adjustment I had no problems to learn how to play. Graphics are decent, music doesn't bother and one or two tunes are quite catchy. The story is residual, but the heroes are likeable and you really want to help them survive. Also, the generic story doesn't impact playability - and it is awesome. You won't feel tired going through the levels and in many cases you'll try to pass them again, to receive more points and get all the perks. The game may be finished easily in 6-7 hours, but for me it was 10 because of the fun I had. As for disadvantages, I'd point 2-3 missions, that were quite irritating. Also, even though my PC has more than decent parameters, the game tended to slow below 30 FPS on more than just a few ocasions. Also, there were some bugs, because of which my characters stuck between textures or obstacles. Despite this, I think this is a game worth playing, especially if you feel like taking a break from longer, bigger titles and just have fun. I strongly recommend this title.

Glitchy, confusing, but still fun

The game is full of wonkiness and glitches and sometimes the camera is your worst enemy, the controls aren't tight feeling to the point of full comfort, but I do have fun in this game and the levels are fun to go through and figure out.

Bugs

Bugs everywhere and game crashing with "Fatal error" in the middle of the levels. Most fun was, when during the last boss fight you respawn in the wall and need to start level all over again with boss 80% down.

Slow Controls Turn It into a RT Puzzle G

NOT RECOMMENDED. It would have worked as a casual game with easier level design. With the normal design with the incredibly slow and pre-planning-requiring controls and the necessary special moves using non-controllable canned movements, it is like playing chess with two-second turns. If you do not like trial-and-error, SKIP THIS GAME. The level design itself is TaE. NOT A CASUAL GAME. It gets difficult fast after the first few stages. I had no crashing issues. The special moves from the trailer all have some kind of a requirement for connecting and working. So depending on which character you are playing (which you will forget because they drive the same), you strategy for dealing with the enemies is wildly different and requires positioning forethought. If you lose focus of who you are playing as and the ideal tactics to use with that character IF ANY ARE AVAILABLE in that particular situation, you will take a lot of damage fast. You will need all the health you can have because you will need it to offset the tons of it lost from falling into pits. That was just the special move use. Every other aspect and situation needs its own pre-planning. You don't have non-situational moves or fast attacks unlike the enemy. Managing your enemies, speed (direction too) and movements is tough. I could go on forever for each particular move how clunky and impractical they are to use, including the basic driving. In short, it is one of those games where you have to master awful controls and slowly edge towards the end of the level first time through while going slow. The annoying point system can be trivialized by maxing out the bonus multiplier with stationary air spins. The control scheme is complex. You have two sets of movement keys, offensive inputs and extra moves such as turn-around used with bike spins. If you come back a week later, you will have to re-learn them. Complex controls = a need to pre-plan scenes The level diff gets insane at level 2-4 w/ the jumps.
