Good break between bigger titles
Recently I felt a bit down and tired and didn't want to play anything harder or major. Steel Rats was a game I came hit by accident and it turned out to be a bull's eye. Steel Rats is a suprisingly fresh, 2,5D action platform game with just a small bit of RPG style development. It's typicall easy-to-learn and hard to master game, with really good, intuitive control. Although it is designed to play with a pad, I used a keyboard and with slight adjustment I had no problems to learn how to play. Graphics are decent, music doesn't bother and one or two tunes are quite catchy. The story is residual, but the heroes are likeable and you really want to help them survive. Also, the generic story doesn't impact playability - and it is awesome. You won't feel tired going through the levels and in many cases you'll try to pass them again, to receive more points and get all the perks. The game may be finished easily in 6-7 hours, but for me it was 10 because of the fun I had. As for disadvantages, I'd point 2-3 missions, that were quite irritating. Also, even though my PC has more than decent parameters, the game tended to slow below 30 FPS on more than just a few ocasions. Also, there were some bugs, because of which my characters stuck between textures or obstacles. Despite this, I think this is a game worth playing, especially if you feel like taking a break from longer, bigger titles and just have fun. I strongly recommend this title.
