nice hidden gem
Good metroidvania, if you enjoy this genre, it's a good call. Nice abilities to unlock, map to explore and interesting mechanics.

Not for me
To me this was just like one of those bad freemium smart phone games. If that's what you like then you might love this game, but it just ain't by thing at all. Steamworld Heist was great so I thought I'd enjoy this too but boy was I wrong.

Fun, but over too soon.
I enjoyed Steamworld Dig 2. Even though my old computer couldn't display some of the graphics, 95% of the game worked just fine. I could see the world, but projectiles were invisible. I still managed to complete the game. Through experimentation, trial, and error, I figured out how quickly each projectile moved and estimated their locations and trajectories. My main complaint is that it ended much too quickly. I was very surprised when the credits rolled. For a game that I got for free, it was pretty good. It felt a little bit unfinished, so I can't recommend paying more than a few dollars for it.

I dig it.
A 2D platformer and dig 'em up. You set off on a journey through a mysterious and hazardous world in search of your lost friend. The plot is interesting enough, but nothing spectacular. Decent motivation for advancing I suppose. The game has pretty nice art and a good feel to it overall. The exploration via platforming and tunneling through the ground is quite enjoyable, although I found the inability to dig mid-air or while attached to something to be a bit of an annoyingly artificial limit, but I got used to it. The game is on the shorter side, and you end up encountering upgrades quite frequently, which can give a rapid sense of progression that feels satisfying. A neat little game overall, recommended for anyone who wants into some short, platforming and tunneling fun.
