SteamWorld Dig

If your a fan of the nonlinear exploration from the 2D Metroid games and the digging gameplay from the Arcade game: Dig Dug, then this game is for you. In terms of gameplay, you dig deep into the mine, collect tons of ore, battle strange creatures, get new gear, and bring a lot of ore that you've collected back to the surface so you can trade them for cash and use that cash to buy upgrades for your gear. Doing all this never gets old and things get interesting as you progress further into the game. So in the end, I definitely recommend this game.

Steamworld dig is one of those game that, even if there are a complete masterpiece, still manages to lay foundation for those game that will come after. Not that the game itself is bad or anything: it does have a nice and quiet unique gameplay, where you have to 'dig' (quite straightforward with that title) deeper and deeper until you reach...well, the end. It's not complicated, and the game even managed to end before getting stale. Besides that, it's a nice little story with western themes and robots. However, although the ideas are really good and were implemented decently, the game does have some little issues, like being so simple that after a while, even considering that the game can be finished in one day, it gets stale (as said before). This is the main reason I decided to give this game three stars grade instead of 4. Still, a total yes! even if you are of that much of a fan of this kind of game, weirdly enough it is high entertaining.

This game is simply awesome! It is highly addictive, and has a ton of unlockable items to use throughout the game. The graphics are also amazing and the sound track is not at all annoying. I hope we see more quality games from this publisher!

Steamworld Dig is a high quality indie game. It could of been so much more though! I hear it was originally on 3ds? All I know is it doesn't feel anything close to a shovel-ware ports. It shows the Devs really do care about the game. I am kind of happy that I took the risk in purchasing this game. I Didn't even really read what it was going to be about. Its a good three to four hours of gameplay for someone whose played a lot of platformers in their day. I've seen on the steam forums people taking up to 16 hours to complete everything though. We don't have an achievement tracker yet on GOG (not until Universe comes out) So its hard to know if i got all the secrets with out looking at spoilers. This game could of taken it to the next level though on PC. It seems like the devs were trying to make the game a bit too user friendly. If your looking for a unforgiving and challenging platformer this isn't really going to beat your brains in. It is worth the play through and the graphical art alone is amazing, some of the best I've seen in a while. You'll get an enjoyable five hours tops out of it.

Based on the glowing reviews here, I thought this was going to be a great game. Unfortunately not. Only buy this game if you like a simplistic in variety side-scroller that makes you re-do the same part over and over when you die. I personally don't want to do this. It just makes me frustrated and angry at it. This is not entertainment and it's wasted money for me. It does though run flawlessly on LinuxMint 18.3.
