Description
Stealth Bastard Deluxe Complete Edition includes the main game, soundtrack, and Teleporter Chambers DLC.

Stealth games are awesome. Hiding from The Man, skulking in shadows, the thrill of infiltration. But why do they have to be so... slow?

That was the question that spawned Stealth Bastard, the fast-paced, nail-biting antidote to tippy-toed sneaking simulators that the world had so desperately been craving. Now, building on the ideas sketched out in this unholy marriage of deft, wall-hugging stealthiness and insane break-neck platforming, we’re proud to bring you the bigger, better, shinier Stealth Bastard Deluxe.

Stay out of the light to avoid the attention of deadly security robots! Leap like a lusty salmon to avoid those zap-happy lasers! Think fast as the walls close in around you! Only the fastest and sneakiest will make it to the exit without being mangled by the facility’s security systems. Will you be among them?

Features:

Campaign Mode: 80 levels spread across eight worlds, featuring tricky puzzles, platforming challenges and a wide range of sharp-eyed security bots who are entirely unsympathetic to your plight.

Dynamic Lighting: Stay in the shadows cast by Stealth Bastard Deluxe’s dynamic lighting system to escape the attention of enemies and security cameras.

Equipment: The Camo Suit, the Decoy, the Sonic Decoy, the Antilight and the Teleporters provide new ways of outfoxing enemies in every level.

A really B*****D puzzle action game

I purchased this game on Steam last year. Recommended as the game do what it pretend to, and rather well. However due to the time pressure it feels more of a platformer than a stealth infiltration game. So this might not be to anyone taste. This is a mix of platform/puzzle/stealth games. With simple but serviceable gfx. The first time you play a level it is more like a steatlth and puzzle, as you try to figure how you can reach the exit avoiding all security systems and opening doors. Your receive a letter grade (A-D) for your performance which takes into account time/death/# times spotted. This part of the game is thoroughly enjoyable. Taking your time to explore the level and solve the puzzles is atmospheric and challenging. Then the PROBLEM is that in order to achieve the best grade S (for stealth) you should complete the puzzle in a very short time without being spotted at all. And now the game turn into a very tight timed platformer, where you must be very precise in your moves and jump. Hopefully the controls are quite good and the character is very agile and capable of changing direction in mid air. Yet getting a S grade on some level can be very hard and you may have to repeat the level many times to get a perfect result. BE WARNED that this part can be really nerves wrecking, and you'll realize why there is the B.....D word in the game title. Note that each stage is mad of 8 levels and getting a S grade on the 8 level is not necessary to move to the next stage, it merely unlock a bonus 9th level on each stage. The game has a decent amount of content.

Impossibly unfair with precision timing

I really want to like this game, but there are two factors which make that impossible. First is the fact that the target goals (time, number of deaths, and number of times spotted) are unrealstic and improbable (if not impossible) to achieve. They remind me of the par times in DOOM. Also, it is impossible to even come close to those targets without many, many tries on several of the levels because you die as soon as you make the first move (so you have to memorize what you need to do and hope you can do it on your next try). Second, and most importantly, is the fact that the controls are horrible. To call the controls inconsistent would be a great understatement (to be clear, I'm using the keyboard, not a controller). You can do the same exact thing ten times, with the same exact timing and same pressure/duration of each keypress, and your results will be different each time. Couple this with the fact that the game requires extremely precise timing (as in, you die if your timing is 100ms off), and the result is nothing but frustration. I don't mind difficult or challenging games. In fact, I welcome them. What I do mind, however, is a game whose timing is so tight that it makes it virtually impossible to achieve the required result. Replaying the same 10-15 seconds of a game hundreds of times is not enjoyable. There are enough things in life to cause frustration and rage. Games (which are meant for entertainment) should not be one of them.

Nice puzzle plattformer

Pro: graphics, sound and gameplay are quite nice, Con: levels are linear and small, no story, repetive environment, lot of trial and error

Fun and cheap retro, stealth platformer

You play the role of a clone at some weird research facility with way too many traps, turrets, robots and security cameras to be taken seriously - it reminds me a lot of Aperture Science in good ol' Portal actually. Anyway, you can control the character quite easily with the keyboard and your job is to get your clone from one side of the level to the exit (a bit like Lemmings). Sounds pretty simple right? Well along the way you'll have to avoid turrets and security cameras by hiding in the shadows. Thankfully, the game lets you know when you're "Not Visible", "Partially Visible" or "Fully Visible" so you don't need to only rely on visual cues to check whether a nasty turret can see you or not. There are usually a whole bunch of doors you'll need to get through too so you'll be using a combination of stealth and puzzle solving in order to complete the levels. It took me a few times on some levels before I finally managed to get to the exit, but usually this isn't too much of a problem since the game autosaves as you make progress throughout the level and once you've figured out what you need to do, everything falls into place. In fact, thanks to leaderboards with fastest times, the game actually encourages you to replay the level to try and beat the best times. And there's not much else to say about the game. If you like stealth platformers, then you'll like Stealth Bastard Deluxe.
