Description
In Starflight 1 you embark on a mission to save the galaxy’s future by discovering the secrets of its past. With over 800 unique planets in 270 systems to explore, you never know what might lurk behind the next star. Each newly explored system might lead to a powerful artifact, a mysterious alien race, or another piece of the puzzle that will unravel the ultimate mystery. And that's the really great thing about this game: the feeling of exploration and fulfilling that deep human need that drives us towards the unknown.
Starflight 2 keeps all the great gameplay of its predecessor, but makes everything bigger and better. Many aspects of the game were vastly enhanced: the game’s diplomacy, the size of the galaxy, and the number of alien races you can interact with are all improved the second time out. The gameplay—if not the graphics—are reminiscent of another classic game in our catalog where you wander around the galaxy exploring stars and chatting with humorous aliens who want to control the galaxy. The plot starts you out in a standard science fiction mode, but it builds to a fascinating and satisfying climax at the end. Basically, if you enjoyed Starflight 1, the sequel will be right up your alley.

The MAP and size!
I first played this on the MegaDrive and I was just blown away with the scale of this. Something like 800 planets to explore inc various gravity and atmospheres on the planets. Landing and timing the retrorockets (before it burned all fuel) to slow your descent without crushing and injuring crew along with solar winds blowing your lunar buggy off course- again burning precious limited fuel (you can dig in and ride the storms out, if you don’t hit rock that is! Naming your crew - back then- was a novelty that made the game special. I don’t know how long it took me to finish the game, but I know that PCs had come out (voodoo 2 and matrix mystique) that could play the first proper games while I was playing it! Yeah, it’s a monster that I just had to buy on GoG as well, though I still have it on my Megadrive and manual and mint map. Btw, if you love this and have a Megadrive I recommend Buck Rogers. The two compliment each other in space travel and combat with alien races etc.

I remember playing this game on my DOS PC many many years ago. I couldn't remember the name of the game but I recognized the screenshots immediately. Fantastic epic adventure that takes you across space and time, where you mine worlds, record them for colonization, ans try to save the entire galaxy!

Not what I had hoped.
I have this on Megadrive and seeing that it originated on PC I thought itd be great to see the 'proper' version in all its PC-Glory. Unfortunaly both parts 1 & 2 are like Atari 2600 games and wholly unplayable today in my eyes. My first GoG regret unfortunately and, while I can see the basis of a great game here, I will stick with the Megadrive version now.

Terrible, Unplayable
Starflight 1 is completely unplayable on a modern computer - some of the letters can't even be distinguished from one another due to the terrible font. Starflight 2 is a slight improvement (at least the text is readable), but the controls are wonky and it just wasn't worth the effort for me to figure out how to play.
